Think J F Kennedy & NASA.!    To the Moon & back.

They did that... We can do it, our dream !

All it takes is for us all,  to get in behind the dream,  and put our shoulders to the effort.

I love that the only comment on the thrread linking the MFC Strategic Plan to NASA and the moon came from someone calling himself My Favourite Martian. Well done, MFM.

Forgive me if i seem cynical,  regarding people in elected positions of power.

Courageous Cats are spread to thinly these days in positions of power.   And sadly the few that are, are on the wrong/right side of the political spectrum,  trying to make wealth instead of health, and well-being.

Ours is as big a ask as was kennedy's for the then USA.  They had the Russians breathing down their necks.

Well, our Russians and Chinese and Indians and Dawks have all left us behind,  and the Tiges are breathing hot breath down our backs. Licking their feline lips, readying to deevour us.

Absolutely if we can start winning consistently 16-17 games per year thus making top 4 reguliarly, The State Goverment will make sure we have a 21st Century Training Facility near to the MCG.

Winning fills stadiums. Tourists go to a game at The MCG, so i want that Game to be a Melbourne game

I question how much influence the East Melbourne residents really have in this. Surely any local or state government would laugh at them, like they do the rest of us

A few influential figures involved in those groups, with political and media klout. Lots of "old money" in East Melbourne with influence in the Yarra and Melbourne councils. I lived there for 5 years and saw it first hand. There's a reason why the suburb -- on the doorstep of the CBD to one side, and junkie ice heaven in Abbottsford to another -- is enclosed in its own elite bubble with no crime or over development. Unless you're developing apartments that service a very high class buyer, you're not building anything in East Melbourne or Jolimont. You also have the chardonnay sipping socialists like Stephen Jolly who thumb their nose at sports and private enterprise and would like the streets for weeks should anything further infringe on Yarra Park. I was at a council meeting when they were pushing hard to ban cars from the park, citing "irreversible" damage to the park. Mind you cars have been parking there for half a century and it's still one of the greener parks in the city.

I think the 4 year horizon with finals each year and a flag is very reasonable looking at our list age profile.

I've tried to make a graphic representation below of the age of players at the start of the 2020 season. I used 5 characters per player name so it works like a graph (yes I know it's not exact because it's not a mono-spaced font).  I have also bolded (who I believe) are locked in best 22.

I think this data shows that we've definitely entered the window now and the current group has 4 years to deliver.

Nev is the only lock who is guaranteed to be gone.  The next set of Melksham, Gawn, TMac and May have 3-4 good years left - at the start of year 4 none will be older than 31. We've got an absolutely fat line now at 24 that is going to move through to 27 across this period. It's also reasonable to expect that some best 22 locks will emerge from the 18-21 set e.g. Petty, Jackson, Kozzie.

I’d love some detail on how the club plans to achieve these lofty targets.

At the moment I have no confidence in them getting even close, based on what I know they think will get them there.

Just more fluff sadly.

Ok mister negative, the club just should know it's place and set a low target for success. That way they can't disappoint people like you

notsureifserious?

  • just add 3 to the age at the start of each line.
  • delist any of the non bolded players you definitely don't rate
  • bold Petty, Jackson and Pickett, some love Jordon too but all are early calls
  • who knows who else we might add via trade, FA and draft

interesting that we're continuing to invest time and resources into casey; at least from a "will continue to develop Casey Fields as our secondary high-performance facility. We will play our AFLW, VFLW and VFL home games as well as an AFL pre-season game at Casey Fields" standpoint

i have no idea what the facility is like out there now - i've been out there i reckon three times in the last seven years and it's just way too far away for me to be that interested in going out there, plus parking was a nightmare

i'm told that signing the 30-year agreement with the city of casey was done by cameron schwab and paul gardiner?

here's a tangential case study on the tigers leaving their green site of craigieburn behind: https://home.id.com.au/case-studies/richmond-football-club/

i wonder how much benefit we get out of the casey alignment other than monetarily from the city of casey - as a matter of interest, did schwab / gardiner do the deal with the corrupt council that is apparently in place there now?

The way global warming is melting the  ice caps Melbourne City might be underwater Casey will be a Harbour City

A great introduction.

I look forward to consuming the greater detail.

A problem we had in the past that we would declare a 3,5,7 year strategy and abandon them half way through.

I hope there is enough content to ensure we can progress to meet and exceed the outlined strategy achievements.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
