This Sunday 23 February between 12pm - 2pm.

Yet another significant event for the club totally lacking in promotion. The family day was first publicised by email on 19 December and there has been nothing of note since. If the club want to sell memberships and merchandise on the day they should have been promoting it on a weekly basis.

Generally an excellent day if there aren't too many in attendance and the players are very good with the kids these days.

Both brothers and their children are going.  Bf can’t make it, so just me and them. Looks to be a good day

Don't agree poita there was a big promo on front of the website last week for this weekend's 4 events. Being 2nds game, seniors game, ladies game and family day today. I also got an email to the same effect. Looks ok to me.

You seem ambivalent about whether you want people to turn up or not.

Had a very brief chat with HB. Anyone who thinks he is hoping to play half way or late through the season is mistaken.

He reckons he will be going much earlier than that.

He also picked up a kids footy completely different size to what he would be used to and drilled the kid he was kicking it to 30 meters away with a picture perfect drop punt.

Early crow of the year. He can beat Petracca in the b&f.

Won't happen, he won't play before mid year.

Had a great day despite the heat. All the players were friendly. Casey Sherriff was lovely to my niece.

Nephews had a great ti e with the dart footys. Lots of fun activities for them. Sad to think they’ll be too old for this in a few years.

No sign of Daisy Pierce. My niece is dying to meet her.

Went along for the first time with my girls and they had a great day out.

Highlight of the day was, of course, the face painting.  That's what my four year old says anyway.  The heat was pretty oppressive but there was enough shade around when you needed a break.

All the players were friendly and approachable.  Waited close to an hour in the line to get Max to sign my daughters jumper, but the wait was worth it.  The way he interacts with the fans, from young kids through the older generation, is first class.  There is a reason why he is likely to be installed as captain.

There was plenty to do and lots of freebies given out as the day went on.  Overall the club did a great job with it and we'll be back next year.

At one stage there was a game going on where two players were getting rolled up in bandages.  As the pressure mounted I saw ANB fumble his bundle of bandages and drop them on the stage floor.  Classic.

Good day - collected my scarf with the digital membership - could collect my heart out all year but not a filth .

Not as many there as Luna park ( imo )  but players were great . Big lines to see Maxy and co .

Charlie was great with my 4 year old- his favourite player

I reckon Tom Sparrow is in for a-huge year.

the boys look fit -

Sun was damn hot .

Nice day Go dees

Kids had a ball my son got his number 5 jumper signed by Petracca and had pics taken with Petracca, Gawn, Oliver and Viney. Players were all great with the kids, my boys are already looking forward to next year's one ?

Cassie - Daisy was standing next to where Petracca and Brayshaw were signing autographs to the right if the rent where Gawn was

What does this year’s scarf look like? Would you be able to post a pic? Or anyone else for that matter.

HB should focus on footy and family and a little less on the other wonderful sites our city have to offer and he'll be fine.

Won't see him until mid year at best perhaps even later if we are playing well.

And what spots don't you want HB to pop up at DW.

Maybe the NBL ? He was just asked to train when Stephen May and he were at a game prior to Xmas with another player Nev Jetta  I think.

But tough he has done everything right and if you believe what you see in the doco then he is more than all in and totally emotionally involved.

Your comment was really not necessary IMO.

As promised to BB  late last year, I make no comment.

I wonder how many times you've used that before? Usually ........ people don't go in for "implied" do they?

perhaps the sites I'm referring to have two legs

  • GAMEDAY: Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG to face the Tigers in their annual Blockbuster on ANZAC Eve for the 10th time. The Dees will be desperate to reignite their stuttering 2025 campaign and claim just their second win of the season. Can the Demons dig deep and find that ANZAC Spirit to snatch back to back wins?

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
