What is this based on?

The business case is to come.

There should be multiple co-financing avenues with the multiple racing clubs, MCC, state, federal and even local govs, the AFL and our own cash injections, but this is a commercial team that struggled to get a short's sponsor for a team that had finished top 4 three years in a row and won a flag.

As for MFCSS, it's actually just a lack of trust now sullied over multiple years by the administration, nothing to do with the football side of things. At least not for me.

They aren’t proposing to build Dubai.:: it’s a few football ovals, a pavilion and a 4 storey HQ..: a members fundraising and some contribution from council and state governments will be enough. I’m in construction and the total cost for this isn’t going to be exorbitant

What are we talking though? I had previously heard tens of millions...

i wonder if caulfield will finally include the "Deeluded MFC Social Club"?

What about the Redleg Urinal?

I find the negativity about this bizarre. We finally have some concrete plans, and things appear to be moving in the right direction. I am not a fan of Caulfield, but if that is the position the clubs takes then I will embrace it. Just give us a home already.
Notably the Lawrence fans are still not happy. Can’t campaign on that one anymore hey?

That is one expensive oval.

Yep, I'd heard ours would require similar funding, great news if not, but remains to be seen.

I hope Skuit didn't wait up for this.

Really just more of the same.

It's "build time" I want to hear about: ie how long will it take once the project starts turning over dirt.

It is a bit of a fizzer, and now I have no idea if my breakfast whisky is for joy or sadness.

I'm mostly left scratching my head as to why they told Roffey not to attend the email forwarding.

A MFC player will not grace it this decade. Think 2030+ better then than never.

And even then it will be just MFC androids. Like, who is going to go and fetch the balls that go in that dam? You can bet it won't be robot Fritsch.

Sale of the Bentleigh Club money?

Hope not

That is "future fund" money. Use the income but not the capital.

Frankly we should have been raising money for the training ground for years.

Of the $113M being spent by the Hawks various governments are putting up $30M ($15M from each of State and Federal)

Yes, ours will be quite high as a total, it's expected to be around $100-120 million, of which we have committed $20-25 million.

So that's $20-25mill from the $32mill(?) sale of the Bentleigh Club? Of course, we'd have hopefully generated significant return on that from speculation in financial markets and interest, but that's a large amount to sink into the project, I'm sure it can't he helped though and the Caulfield asset gain will outstrip holding the Bentleigh Club.

I think that they will come to supporter groups to help raise equity, MCC, MFC, AFL ( they owe us big time) State & Fed Govt. this is not like the Cats Colosseum.

Inability to obtain both Federal and State funding has been / is an issue as well. Final costs far closer to the $120million mark, Dees have to come up with 25%.

Fundraising initiatives to be announced soon. Expect another Debt Demolition / Foundation Legend and Heroes event to be run.

I remember Essendon doing something similar to the childrens hospital appeal on the phone lines and raised significant $$

I presume that the build will be completed in phases?

It’s definitely a step in the right direction, but until we have concrete agreements on how this is going to pay for itself, i won’t be opening the Single Malt Whiskey 🥃 ….

They absolutely will, that's their go to.

If we end up with elite training facilities at Caulfield and can [censored] Casey off for good would be even better

We need both to cover AFL, AFLW, VFL & VFLW.

AFLW, VFL and VFLW can be based at Casey, AFL should get out of their as quick as possible

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
