How has there been no update yet? According to the pdf the council put up the report was supposed to be produced in June.

June 2056 probably

Pretty frustrating that this has been dragging on and on....

As Melbourne supporters and members we should be demanding a progress report and a timeline for completion of our Home Base at Caulfield Racecourse at the upcoming Melbourne Demons AGM.

To be fair this could be just about anywhere in Noodleville's eastern suburbs right now.

To be truly fair to this restaurant, the food is a cut above...  Ray Asian Wok. Looks small from outside but they have another storefront next door that is a dining room. Surely, the law is not aware of this, but Chinese people don't care about anything but the food. Looks like a takeaway, but you may need to book...

name of restaurant pls

Ray Asian Wok. May need to book... Don't be alarmed if they lead you out the door and bundle you through a darkened entrance next door. That's the dining area. Be prepared to wait 40 mins if there's a crowd.

ah right, other side of the race course

derby thai right by caulfield station is excellent and always chockers too

Have a very good non-dees mate who works closely with the local government in the area who reckons this deal is all but done. He doesn't have any details on timelines or costings though. I have no more information and can't vouch for the veracity of the information only to say that I trust his word implicitly. Understand that I am just an anonymous person on the internet so use what ever amount of grains of salt that you need.

thanks, i hope your info is on the money, smurf

however, i understood that as it is crown land, local government doesn't really have much say.

of course they would be somewhat closer than us to what is going on and probably privy to good info

Yes. Had to be some action. Less words and more action.

Can't read it....bloody paywall!

The question is....how does it effect the building of the Home Base for the Melbourne Football Club?

It didn't mention our development at all.  More to do with differences of opinions in the location of mounting yards, the replacement grand stands and the sale of Sandown.

The only bit that may be concerning is that section that says:

Chair Matt Cain is stepping down and CEO Blanksby has resigned – the two men who have been the public face of Caulfield’s $160 million renovations.

i would expect that any plans and commitments - such as those alluded to by @smurf - may be started over

i know there is so much criticism of the board and administration of finding us a home base, but it really ain't for want of trying

The information was from 2 weeks ago. I didn't know this thread existed until today. Mate is OS now but will see what I can find out.

Don't know anything about the crown land stuff. Mate doesn't work for the council. Works closely with them on various projects. At the time he claimed the info was solid. No idea how this news of a board spill effect anything.

I don't know if it would start over.  The way I see it, the attempted spill is primarily for the racing area.

I'd imagine that the centre vacant area strategic plan would still be moving along as it's not mentioned in the article at all.

Just my guess.

Seems to be on the money as a few posters have mentioned now about the MFC contribution required towards the project. Thanks for the information. I'd be interested to hear if your friend happens to know the level of involvement of Kate Roffey as it stands, as I've heard not very positive things in terms of how much the decision makers want to do with her.

Roffey is largely removed from the project, as it stands.

Yes, that is what I had heard also. Apparently a refusal from the other parties in wanting to work with her.

Most bizarre given this was her 'forte'... the ticket upon which she secured the 'job'

The facts to all of this must be fascinating for sure.

Crickey, it seems like even the MRC executive are jumping ship to avoid being associated with us.

Will have to check it out, only two train stops from McKinnon and I see they do Laksas (my wife loves Seafood Laksa).

Will also have to check out Derby Thai which I see mentioned as well 👍🤤

I can't help but read this as "a board member who was in the minority/lost the vote, has called for a spill of the entire board so that it can (hopefully) be replaced by a new board that agrees with them".

2 other board members have flipped and he has support of some key trainers and jockeys

Yeah, it's actually pretty damning given that stakeholder engagement and management is one of her spruiked 'skills'.

Yeah, they do Laksas. They also do a lot of dishes that aren't the Cantonese food that most Westerners call 'Chinese Food.' So be prepared for some surprises...

why won't they work with her?

i'll be gobsmacked if this is true

Looks like the menu has a few S.E. Asian dishes and a couple of Sichuan dishes. Thanks for tge heads up 👍

Takes a bit to surprise me when it comes to culinary offerings ... have eaten horse meat in Kyrgyzstan, stir fried lemon grass infused grasshoppers in Thailand and raw, seasame oil drizzled squirming octopus in Korea 🤤😁

Anyways, hoping Caulfield RC trsining base gets up (one day), live nearby so could occasionally pop in to watch a training sesh from time to time (with maybe a laksa for lunch nearby) 😊

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.
