Separate thing, it is also not just a resurface, the oval has been expanded to now make it as long as the G and as wide as Etihad.

The home base is still to be decided/approved/announced/whatever but it is assumed it will be an addition to AAMI park.

But which decade Cards?

I thought we'd seen the plans and it WAS decided ...just not yet announced? Do you know if there has been a particular roadblock arise or things are just as they were?

Who would know it is as quiet  as the grave wells 11. Nothing on the members night this week and I expect nothing at the AGM in coming days.

OD, the last time you had such a negative attitude you were threatened with deportation back to Qld - where, back in '21, while holidaying, you amazed us by submitting extremely positive posts. Who'd have thought it?

After these last comments about our facilities I think its time for another holiday mate.

I've got no inside word Wells and Perty et al have seen the plans and they look great from what they've said publicly but until it's announced it's not a done deal, especially with an election on the way...

NC the simple fact is it has been promised now for 3 years and still no news. We have a very good team of players, good coaching, good admin and good training conditions at Casey. All those won us a flag last year. If it takes another few years so be it we will have won another flag or 2 in that time. The rest of a facility for members  is nice to have but will have no effect on the playing group.

Getting it right is more important than getting it right now

I was very drunk with someone who works in the tennis precinct who talked about the plans to me but I can’t remember what he told me. Hope this helps.

Hope it wasn’t that imbecile Craig Tiley. The info he gave you would’ve been very incorrect. Just ask Novak 😜

yes...and..sometimes the perfect can be become the enemy of the good. Our time to strike is now. Our club is in a peak window for attracting interest and money. Who knows how long his will last!

The problem is as I see it they are in the hands of the government. So the MFC wants something! No votes there it can wait.

  • 3 weeks later...

I see ch 7 tonight mentioned that our new facilities are shortly to be announced. 5 stories high across from Groches and costing 300 million.

300 million is a monster bill. Going to need the Storm, Rebels etc to chip in (both cash and for the funding case).

I can see why it’s taking so long when it’s gone from far more than just facilities for us.

What you suggested is what i've come up with in my proposal earlier in the thread.

Must admit a bit disappointed that the Gosch's Paddock isn't being fully developed (like in the Master Plan  i came up with below) but something is better than nothing i guess.

I must admit i'm curious to see what happens with the Training Facility and surrounding areas off the back of the news report.

Hopefully most of the above comes true in some way shape or form!

Not sure they'll be moving Gosch's after doing all the work on it, so can probs cross that part off.

Also, not sure which off ramp you mean, but assuming the one coming off the SE Fwy onto Punt Rd? If so, I don't think it could be straightened given it involves being in the left lane and exiting to the right.

What's the 'indoor hall'?

So am I correct that we're still going to be sharing head quarters with Melbourne storm and the likes?

I had visions of a multi-story training facility along the lines of Tottenham Hotspur currently where Car Park F is located.

Spurs facility also has an indoor hall which would be fantastic if there was something like this to allow all teams onsite to use.

Something along the lines of the team whose name I cannot say have at their training facility near Melbourne Airport.

That mockup was my preferred wish list of re-aligning the offramp to create extra space for 2 x Rugby / Football pitches.

If it's a big enough complex I don't see the problem, as long as we have access to facilities when required. Five stories is pretty big and our admin will be based there along with our footy staff.

And as long as it has our branding on it

I do get that, but wasn't the whole idea of having our very own home base was so that we could finally be one whole club which would include players and administrator staff being in the one precinct and finally be free of having to share facilities with other sporting codes?

Which other AFL clubs are sharing facilities with other sporting codes?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
