The areas numbered are area looked at first 13, then second 11 and now we will be in area 2. Note the tunnel at 7.

Ovals in 6 and maybe 4.

This is great. Assuming the snakepit will sit to the south of zone 6?

just a minor point, jack. I think the tunnel marked 7 is the mrc tunnel (finishing post to mrc stand) and the guineas tunnel to the carpark area which we would use is not shown but further east of mrc tunnel and adjacent to guineas car park (our area)

There are two pedestrian tunnels I believe.

Redleg can you clarify if there is going to be a designated track watchers area with appropriate facilities?

Hope so and I don't know.

@Redleg is it your understanding that the area would include the rectangle carpark and lawn on the north/west side? basically the area under the (2)?? The lawn area currently has marques set up for spring? I wouldn't think the skinny carpark on the corner on its own would be enough space. ie Ess indoor training area is approx 80m x 40m which wouldnt fit???

There is more than enough space it is very big, but I am unaware of any configurations or designs.

The car park area after the tents, is very long and more than 40 meters wide. so I don't know anymore than that.

We will have to wait for some drawings.

No the tunnel marked 7 is the Guineas tunnel. MRC tunnel if further to the left which comes out between sections 4 and 5.

Note there was going to be a new tunnel from the Neerim Rd stables area (our 2nd option) but this tunnel is not going ahead - too expensive.

Also note that the multi purpose ovals x 2 and fields x 1 were originally proposed to be in sections 8 and 9.

here is a better map showing both the mrc tunnel and guineas tunnel with respect to the grandstand, carpark and station for anyone interested. sorry it is a bit faint.

edit: this is a bit clearer

I foolishly walked the course this morning. In the pouring rain and freezing wind.

So for future track watchers it will be nigh impossible to get out of the weather (unlike Goschs where you can stand under a tree.)

BTW the Guineas Tunnel is painted pink.

In terms of coffee goodness knows what they serve in the shops close to the station. There is probably somewhere decent where Coles is.

The best closest cafes are Mother in Kambrook Rd and the Grange in Grange Rd.

A mighty effort FnT. thank you.

Might just add The Glasshouse is on the edge of the precinct, a few hundred mtrs from the station.

I was thinking that might be a possibility but I havent been in there in 25 years.

I go there several times a year to meet demon fans as it is near a station all can get to.

It is essentially a sports bar/pub with pokies, has reasonable food, reasonable prices and very convenient for track watchers and players/staff after training.

Oh no, it has a TAB there.

How long will it take for us to be bashed about exposing our players to betting?

Don't forget my joint membership idea of MFC/MRC, I see it happening.

The MRC would probably let us have all the revenue from that idea too, as they are mainly concerned with building attendances and promoting racing at Caulfield.

Other benefits would then flow to both clubs and to the members via loyalty programs, etc.

The MRC are not adverse to giving free memberships out and I got one last year when my horse won there.

I used to be a member of all the three race clubs but gave them up, as I only go when I have a runner now and then as an owner you get in free everywhere.

PS: I can see an annual get together at the glasshouse after training. Slarti can give Old his pizza then.

🤔Wasn't aware they had special phones that blocked certain apps 😉

Lucky they do lol

We'll have to have trying in blinkers too lest they inadvertently take note of any track work.

In honour of your idea we'll call it the Red4leg membership !!

Bumping this thread without an update should be banworthy 😂

Absolutely.

Thanks for the updates everyone, especially Mr Leg, F&T and ATG among others.

Given my current state of over excitement on this after waiting 40 years with no outcome, any further updates along the lines of 'Thunderbirds are Go' being forwarded to room 31 Ward 6 F, would be greatly appreciated. Over and almost out...

I believe that's where they still will be.

Correct. (Someone stated that they were going to be in Sections 4 &6. Not yet anyway).

Btw if a cruel wind is blowing it is impossible to get out of it. And whilst the interior is currently grassed it is not much more than uneven gravel. Not so much of an upgrade as starting from scratch.

Prob announce something after we make a mess of the trade period in hopes we all forget ha ha 😁

Edited by Gorgoroth

This needs to get announced very soon, as it will assist with Trading in players.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
