In the NRL the Roosters and Rabbitohs are having an all out war it seems....

South Sydney have now asked the NSWRL to reconsider its position and believes the Roosters junior representative program is an extension of the junior league.

The Rabbitohs are arguing that their juniors are being enticed to join the Roosters because of the convenience of having the training facility in their area.

The Roosters have provided $200,000 of funding to provide lighting and improve the school’s sporting facilities.

The Rabbitohs have submitted a formal application to have the Roosters banned from training in their backyard and are awaiting a response from the NSWRL.

Honestly, good for Richmond. Heritage listings are too often used to negate progress. There's no reason a rotten grand stand no one can even use needs to be kept around.

It’s not about aesthetics, it’s about functionality. Which the Jack Dyer Stand was never going to be again.

So the MCG should never had any of its stands rebuilt because that history is more important than having a functional, modern, safe stadium.

There is a place for heritage listings and there are times where the value of preserving something completely dysfunctional becomes a burden. Richmond can make a little museum to the history of their ground in a hallway in their newly developed facilities. Society can’t be built on historical artefacts that do nothing but take up space and decay.

Equating Punt Road with the MCG is ludicrous. One is a world class multi purpose stadium, the other is not.

It’s a stadium that is being used to play professional matches in multiple competitions as well as functioning as a training ground for those competitions. It requires an upgrade to serve its purpose and the Jack Dyer stand was impossible to restore. Knocking it down was the right decision.

Other than AFLW, VFL and a paddock for the RFC to run around in, I fail to see why the need to pull down a beautiful building. There many other stadiums for said leagues to play professional football.

Why was it impossible? Greater buildings have been restored.

Aren't they going to reuse elements and materials from the old Jack Dyer stand in the new stand? If it is well designed and executed with taste it could be a win for new modern facilities with a nod to its history as well. Lets see what it looks like when finished.

Our challenge has not been to do with Heritage overlays but rather trees and dog walkers, both of which seem to be more difficult to circumnavigate.
