Paddy Mcartin's concussion problems stem from a neck problem.

Did some research and it’s quite complicated by the sounds of it.
Not ‘technically’ a concussion from a brain injury but all the similarities in symptoms.

Loving hearing AvB training really well, was hoping Hannan would be the same but fingers crossed the fitness team can get him out on the park.

Also happy to hear some positive reports about Weid. If he gets a clean run at it then this has to be the year things start to click, our forward line was so impotent last year so we need TMac and Weid to find the form from the end of 2018 that contributed to us being so high scoring.

Also just a quick one, any reason why Melksham was a no show? For me he is one of our most important players.

His brother Tom had similar problems, I will leave it at that as I don't wish to divulge too much, but one can now play as the other has ongoing issues.

Not sure if you realise that facts aren't welcome on social networks in this post-truth world. Consider yourself admonished.

With the ‘explosive pace’ and ‘Dangerfield at the same age’ comparison I think Older Demon was referring to our SA recruit Tom Sparrow

Agree, you have surgery on a muscle bit of scare tissue and it is just waking everything up.  He will have tight calves and need to manage them.  He is the cream on a pretty good trade and draft period, no essential but a big bonus if he does get through

I imagine his lower legs will take quite some time to adjust and strengthen,  now some bits have been removed.  It will change almost everything in his lower legs,  and all tissues will need to re-adjust..

Maybe it will be next year to see any real improvements.?

Was hoping Hannan would get a good pre season in, seems not to be the case.

Fingers crossed he can get back in the main group ASAP.

I think Hannan is always going to be a week to week proposition for us now,  with his knee issue.

OD was referring to Sparrow, not AVB, and I might be wrong but I’m pretty sure it was Bernie Vince who compared him to Dangerfield last year

That would make a lot more sense!

The amusing thing at training is the players,  if they are in the opposing team to AVB, trying not to be in his vicinity

I'd say that's some smart behaviour on their part.

Yep, definitely Bernie during a preseason fluff interview on SEN.  He was involved with our preseason training and was asked which recruit was standing out. Got me pretty excited about the kid, especially when he was picked so early on in the season.  Hopefully the non-fairy tale first season works in his favour and Sparrow has a great career.

You can see it this pic.

Dunkley looks like he's just spotted a white pointer and he's done, meanwhile his teammate (is that Bedford?) is looking on like he's a gonna...

What about this picture, is that Viney on the left of screen pleading to Vanders, NOOOOO!.Be careful!

avb should be banned from contact training

let him bottle it up for the opposition in the real stuff

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
