No Steve besides the poor results year they said both the Tigers Anzac Eve and QB games were away games in 2019 which had a big influence on financials. Also said that loss was covered from money in the bank so our debt has not increased.

And then round 20/21 which were our home games 37 000/31 000. Ouch. Had we been in finals contention...

Whorethorn want 7 Flags in 30 years, business as usual really.
when does The MFC start fighting...Properly???

Pert left no one in doubt that the MFC is locked into a training and head quarters close to the G. He said that there are up to 8 government bodies to deal with for some of the possible locations. Said they would not be providing a running commentary on progress. My gut feel is not a lot is going to happen for some time. God knows where you find an G size piece of ground with room for training and office facilities close to the G.

Is this what he said tonight ? Or is this a repeat ?

i believe they are looking at a site in Burnley. I suspect it is Keven Bartlett Oval. It’s on the Yarra Boulevard across from Scotch College

Got what I expect from tonight, not a lot we did not already know.

Perhaps I am just wanting to hear how much 2019 hurt the group and how committed they are to be better in 2020. But I think they are doing the right things to do better next season. Goodwin admitted they underestimated the effect 666 would have in 2019. Never thought I would hear that. From a couple of speakers I got the impression that there was an element amongst the playing and coaching groups that all they had to do this year was tweak things a bit and we would finish top 4.

His words were " in a precinct close the G" IMO that does sound like KB oval to me.

Interesting. I also heard from someone in the know tht they might be looking at the patch of land where they often have the circus. Near the Burnley rail crossing opposite the golf course. It’s a vacant parcel of land, no idea of the actual size. It fits a circus tent and car parking. The business park has just been updated opposite.

Thats what Frawley did with the Toiges in 2001. Made the prelim, got done by the Lions, tweaked the recruiting (Blomfield, Paul Hudson..) and promptly never saw finals again until 2013..........

Let's hope there's none of that at the Dees.

Didn't realise it was that narrow. What impact could this have on training to game day conversion ?!?!

Don’t run away Nev. Tonights  the night to put it all out there. Whorethorn have a plan to win 20 Flags by 2050, how are we going to stop that and claim that Silverware???

that is the crux of tonight.

Thanks OD

Astounding that this Club can underestimate anything. Too many bottles were opened last Summer, and we didn’t win anything.

Main points:

1. Loss coming, but covered from cash reserves( I’d check this when financials released)

2. Training facility still being discussed with up to 8 government institutions.( Have heard this multiple times before)

3. Injuries were the reason, not an excuse. Of the mids only Lewis and Jones completed more than 50% of preseason.

4. Board were aware of this prior to season, but hoped to have players returning. We just got more injuries.

5. Coaches aware of lack of outside run. Addressed with Langdon and Tomlinson..

6. Greg Stafford to take up goal kicking coaching along with rucking. Beat 3 others viewing for the role.

7. Only 3 players had post season surgery compared to 16? last year. All of those last year were classed as essential surgery’s.

8. At round 22 Goodwin had a review with the players to vent their frustrations with the year. Big positive.

9. Plenty of Muppets asking questions after. They should read Demonland if they want to know the latest about all manner of things. Some must live in isolation with their lack of knowledge about players and the club.

Mate, I don't disagree with your point, just annoying to keep having to read it again and again in a thread about the member forum.

In general the questions were thoughtful and relevsnt. But several muppets as you say.

Re. Point 3 above . It was lewis and hawn who completed 80% or more of pre season. Jones completed 30%.

10 key players completed less than 30% of preseason.

First i had heard of Whorethorn’s 30 year plan tonight actually.
Whorethorn make plans and predictions and then Follow them through.
Clarkson would not have underestimated the new 666 rule, he would have studied it and worked out ways to exploit it, against us and other opponents.
That is how far behind we are.

Gary Pert spoke very well tonight. I have no problem with his appointment

Some other key point were.

The 666 rule means wingers are now critical specialist role . We tried 17 players in that position to no avail. Hence Tomlinson and langdon targetted. Both had 3 to 4 other clubs intereste.

Jones will be playing higb forward and providing leadersip in that area.

Frost moved on due to perceived lack of opportunities for him now.

Goodwin mounted a strenuous defence of oscar after a particularly moronic and nasty question from the floor

Dees had the highest number of total team changes at selection for the year. Ahead of next biggest by 50%. Illustrated depth of injury woes

Burgess believes the game is won by marking and kicking well and will have preseason programs built on 80% with footballs. Running laps at traing doesn't win games. He seemed right on top of his subject. Bpown away by condition players have presented themselves in at start of pre season..  . Huge wrap for Bruckner

Petracca to now have significant more time in midfield in 2020

Josh Jenkins was never considered.

Don’t agree with the Frost move, but time will tell all. Goodwin has to succeed this year, so it is his call

Not least of whom was the person responsible for the cowardly attack on Oscar McDonald.

Very poor form.

Some more points:

Burgess speaks well and is very engaging. His focus on player psychology and relating to players, not just technical knowledge, will be a big positive.

The footy department are hanging heavily on the limited pre season and injury excuse or "reason", as Mahoney said. I guess 2020 will prove that right or wrong. There was also a slightly concerning over confidence about our list talent levels from Mahoney.

Belief that fitness will fix the poor skill level. ?

Goodwin kept emphasising the word "cohesion" and players knowing exactly what their teammates are going to do in all situations.

666 caught us off guard. Coaches working hard to build a game plan to link offence and defence better. No further detail given.

Overall was a very tame night, a nice update but nothing really gained. It's not like they were going to debate the talents of certain players or their coaching abilities in a public forum.

Oh and everyone had a good laugh that an ex Ruckman is now our goal kicking coach.

Well said. I have never been more mortified about such an attack which I'm not repeating.

Huge kudos to Goodwin on the classy manner he dealt with the question.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
