Thanks for that GLG.

No worries. It's the former father/son system where you could match with your next pick, whatever that was. Think that's how we got Viney for pick 26

Not only should we bid but we should bid and pray GWS dont match. Green looks every bit as good as Oliver looked at that age. Jackson looks too raw to take a risk on at pick 3. It could work out but its a risk we dont need to take. We should at the very least bid on Green.

I just wasn’t sure if they go use their next picks and then use their lower picks and bring a deficit into next year and keep their later first round in the example I gave.

In other words would if we bid on Green and they decide not to match they would be rating Jackson better than Green and a pick in the late teens.

not really, because the cost of getting green is now pick 4 instead of cobbling together late picks and a 2020 deficit

if we don't nominate green, they get a top 4 pick then wait to match a later nomination for green where they can get him cheap

At least make the bid, and if they match then take the alternative. Personally I want Green. Another player similar to Oliver, Yes Thanx.

He doesn't look as good as Oliver at the same age to me. He's slow & he even admits he lacks pace in his interview on YouTube. We have way too many of this type of player in Viney, Brayshaw and Sparrow. Don't see what the fuss is about.

I’ve only seen the highlights package, so I might be doing the player a great disservice, but I’m not sure there is a lot of upside potential in Green. He is a bull at the under 18 level, as his physical development is more advanced than the majority of opponents, which is his big advantage now. But at afl level, there are many more bigger and stronger players than him, and without the ability to explode from packs, which he lacks, I just think his upside will be limited. Whereas a player like Jackson, while maybe a work in progress, appears to have the attributes that give him a much higher ceiling than Green. For this reason I think we will go with Jackson.

Bidding on Tom Green makes sense.

We shouldn't let GWS get a free pass either.

Let's force their hand to take him early.

There is no way GWS will allow a bid to go unmatched.

We don’t need another big bodied inside mid. With Petracca coming into the middle more, taking Green seems like more of the same, and with Oliver, Viney, Trac and Harmes,... do we really need another?
pass for me

interesting the Sydney appear to also be passing...

While I agree we don't need more inside mids, the general consensus among recruiters is you draft for talent at the top end, and if he's rated as the best player available then the Dees will take him.

Reportedly going to slide until around 10ish somehow going by media today. Would be staggering if that happened!

Thinking about how easy it was for Kelly to get to WC from the cats, is there going to be an already made Captain of the future at WC in this draft. I think that there will be.

From our perspective have we picked up anyone from GWS fairly easily. Has a carrot been dangled to ensure the path of Green to GWS. I think there will be be.

Like in the US, nothing written down, nothing here......

Definitely bid on Green.

It doesn't matter if we're flush with inside-mids: our draftees won't make a difference to our immediate flag chances.

If we uncover another blue-chipper like Oliver in Green - then the investment will pay dividends in a couple of years.

Whether that be trading out Green, or another one of our insiders. Oliver is worth close to two pick 3's.

Paraphrasing, but Taylor said in his recent Road to the Draft interview that Green will have a stellar AFL career.

Not really LT.  Assuming we don't bid on him GWS then get to use their pick 4 on a top 10 prospect and any bid that comes after that will be matched by GWS with a bag of chaff.  Why would anyone else bother after that.

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
