Harmes secured his second consecutive top-five Club Champion finish after another consistent year playing all 22 games in 2019. He played a valuable role for his side, often negating one of the opposition’s most damaging players and also showed an ability to win the ball averaging 24 disposals a game.

For this mad Melbourne supporter (me) seeing that mad Melbourne supporter (Harmes) living out his boyhood dream makes me very envious. From rookie to best 22: great story, and probably better to come!

My dog proudly wears number 4 on his jumper. Love his passion and the fact he is living the dream.

Wasn't as prolific in 2019 as he was towards the end of 2018 but still had a solid year and deserved the top 5 finish in the Bluey. I love the way he goes about it but would like him to take his game to another level next year.

One of the few developmental success stories of recent seasons.

Hopefully Hore (showed promise in 2019) joins him next year and we get solid contributions from both Fritsch and Hannan.

Started slowly after a huge second half of 2018.  Felt he found a bit of form when he started to play a more defensively through the midfield.  He is a very, very good footballer and his consistency of effort is a great asset to the team.

love his effort and his flexibility

while i still think that when he is playing as a tagger he's at his best, i wonder whether he will have a different role going forward in 2020

it seemed to me he played much more of a defensive role towards the end of last season, and i suspect he may continue in that role

When Harmes gets going he can be a match winner no doubt and proved it against the hawks when he put in a last quarter blinder to help us over the line. Is durable and fits into a tagging role without fuss.  Has nullified some very good opposition since being used as a tagger in the midfield.

Harmes is a valuable team member and he has plenty of scope to be even  better than he is.   ' A' GRADE Quality material.

Had a good season after coming of age in 2018 though appeared at times to be furiously paddling against the tide with little success. Weighed down by the general ineptness of some of his midfield partners and poor co-ordination.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
