Good call. He is better than most of the Top picks imo in the thin-highly compromised draft next year. That’s why I like the swap with Kangas

I'm convinced this has been our plan the whole time and that we will take Kemp at 8. We traded next years first for him but he wont play in 2020. He will be effectively our first pick in the 2020 draft. Really good trading IMO, we get a top 5 talent next year regardless of our finishing place in 2020.

That’s if he is there at 8 and if he is the one we want.

My theory is that the only reason with bought pick 8 was for Kemp.  Id say we know he will be there at 8.

If you are referring to me I would ask that as adults we be civil towards each other.

I was a 40 year Demon member and have now moved to the USA with my American wife so I would respectfully ask that you do not make any snide remarks.

We are all here for one reason and that is to discuss the MFC and what it means to each of us.

Thankyou and I trust you appreciate my polite response. Like you I do not appreciate snide remarks.

I hope that’s the case.

You'd reckon they'd attempt to trade in pick 12 (one pick before the dogs) as opposed to throwing the extra picks in to secure 8 from Norf if Weightman is the target. But what do I know!!

Some talk Carlton want a small forward as well, seeing as they missed Papley. Are also apparently in the frame for Jackson (ruck) and Kemp, as are we

Not to digress too much further, but I always thought Stuie and Rangey were one and the same? FWIW, I never minded either of them.

Kemp wont make it to pick 8

If GWS are forced to match a bid for Green, it only leaves Adelaide, Sydney and Fremantle to bid on Kemp. Adelaide might prefer one of the SA boys and Freo might look at Ash or Stevens after losing Langdon and Hill. Sydney might look at Sarong if the Crows don’t take him with the plan to replace Papley next year?

You could be right but I concur with the idea that it's quite possible Kemp won't be there at our next pick. I'd prefer Kemp over Young, but it'll be interesting to see what we do with pick 3.

And we have another month to keep guessing. ?

I don’t know enough about the kids to pick, only what I’ve read, but I do like the idea of having an elite kick coming out of the back half to set up attacks though. I actually think Kemp will slip through to our pick 8, just don’t know if we’ll pick him. ??‍♂?

We can only hope. Makes it more likely Stephens will be left on the board.

I may be in the minority but I kinda hope we take Stephens over Kemp (as unlikely it is we'd get the choice between the two at pick 8 )I'm surprised he's not getting more love, he seems like a perfect fit

3-Green. Giants (nomination by Dees)

4- Young. Dees

5- Stephens. Crows
6- Ash.  Freo

7- Serong. Swans

8- Kemp.  Dees

that’s a great double for the Dees

Crows could be interested in Serong as an Eddie replacement?

I don’t know if Swans would pass Kemp, I get the logic of choosing Serong to replace Papley if he plans leave though.

I don't think Flanders would slide outside of the top 8.

There's talk of freo picking Jackson with 7 to get him ahead of Carlton at 9

Agree, Freo will take one of Robertson/Jackson at 7 and will be praying to land the other at 10.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
