Try and get the players out there to train 'old dee'...

That move would torpedo any idea of us being a destination club...

Arctic & Dingley are right on the Monash, an easy trip from the leafy Easterns.

Cranny is a bridge too far.

Ok Lets take over the Hawks old site at Arctic Park or the wastelands of docklands.

Just joking, I think in the real world we will just have to make a better job of using Goschs.

I have got to say Ernest that I can see  that side of the argument.

We are where we are because of the failure of a number of administrations  over half a century.

It is now very difficult to fix the problem.

If something cannot be done to fix the problem in the Goschs area then I see no alternative but to move to the Boon docks.

Which will be a pity, out of the way and disconnected for most of us.

Set up to fail if it does go down Darklands way..

Why ? The Hawks left their home land 20 years ago and they seem to have done alright since.

They are now moving to Dingly, not exactly close to Hawthorn.

The undeniable problem is that with the exception of Goschs there is no viable alternative in the inner suburbs.

IMO it is make Goschs work or head for the outer suburbs.

The proposal for the new building is 100% on the rail reservation with no encroachment onto Yarra Park! As for the oval, what it will mean is that the area will be curated grassland available to the public all except for 5-6 hours training per week (which fall between the most popular early morning late afternoon dog walking hours)! Currently, with event parking and events themselves, public access is compromised/denied for more hours than that. I think my fellow residents should take their blinkers off and think this through!

you (being a local) could try mail dropping them, cbd, to try and turn them around, but i suspect they are hard-boiled and wouldn't even read it. I would have thought the mfc would have held meetings already with them but have heard nothing

I suspect the MFC have been taking a very low profile till after the election dc.

Sadly will make no difference. No matter how logical the proposal it will be lost in the " taking park land " cries.

The MFC have met with them (and found them most negative)! Best to not reveal your hand as they will misrepresent (embryonic/preliminary) information and it gives them time to get advanced with their campaign as at present when they have letter-boxed 4000 households (except mine) and pressured the three major parties!

I guess this means the Yarra Park idea is dead in the water. I can see us homeless for another few years, before announcing a poor second  best option, with a far inferior building than we planned over the railway tracks.  Was hoping that we had secured political support by dumping our poker machines. Guess not.

Oh well, at least i wont have to vote Labor now. :)

Who does he follow?

Should ban them all from the MCG.

Seriously? Looks like he'd need verbal instructions on how to breathe.

He told me that he is a Melbourne ‘supporter’ (but I would be positive that he wouldn’t fork out for a membership or be interested enough to attend games)!

I suspect the lack of foresight wasn't the only problem. I presume we would have had insufficient financial resources to do anything there anyway.

You find a way to do it...

We didn’t.

We have an oval already right in the middle of Yarra Park.

It's called the MCG.

It's our home ground.

That's where we should train.

And dominated by 10 drop in cricket pitches right now. Not to mention the surface grass cut to 12mm length for cricket (24mm for football) making it rather hard.

I certainly wish we could but not possible any more.

No argument on that but the proposal is about centralised administration, gymnasium etc as well!

Meer details.

Who watches the cricket anyway, we're crap.  Tell them to go play at the Junction Oval.

Red, I assume you would be happy if it was in your backyard ?

Any options down your way?

If not there is a derelict Manor ripe for redevelopment down Romsey way, wherever the hell that may be.

My old friend, can you imagine travelling out to Dingley for a single malt. Have you lost your mind ?

Unless you think that following the Hawks is the way to go.

Its simple, the location has to be central and accessible by car and public transport.

It has to be near the MCG or central Melbourne.

Like Eddy, you have to think big and not accept the cheap option.

Ernest I would not go to Yarra park for a single malt. But back to the real world. Besides Goschs there is nothing in inner Melbourne. It is Goschs or the burbs. Why is so hard for people to understand that simple fact. As for eddy he got the easy option when we abdicated.

  • Build a Gym in the VR ballroom across the road,
  • central,
  • close to public transport, and
  • across the road from Y and J's

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
