The mood was light-hearted. Plenty of laughter, even the first few drills were about games and fun.

The rehab included Sam Weideman, Marty Hore and Billy Stretch.

Jake Melksham in the main group though not doing the contact work and still doing some fitness training.

James Harmes on light duties.

Charlie Spargo also in the main squad with full participation as was Tim Smith.

Oscar Baker appeared to be on the outside of full program, as was Oscar Mcdonald, Toby Bedford and James Jordon.

The squad quickly begun simulations. Emphasis was plenty of switches with entry into an open forward area after creating overlaps.

They went back to drills of clearing the contested area. Then returned to more simulations.

Only at the end did they do work in the line squads.

Nathan Jones with the backs, he was vocal and setting up the release with good angles to open up the space.

The backs working on blocking, rolling and staying with their opponents.

Harrison Petty in the forwards, holding most of his marks and finishing well.

Christian Pettraca and Corey Maynard with the mids.

I think Jay Kennedy-Harris and Corey Wagner could be a chance for selection.

Not much goal kicking practice.

The intensity was there at appropriate times.

Thanks for the report kev!

DNIMD, that was my exact response when reading the report! Surely we should focus more on a key issue we’ve had all year...

Hannan left early with the other Casey guys so suspect he is out and Wagner in and JKH in the squad, also T Smith in the mix for a recall.

For the last few weeks I wish I had a better grasp of the (possible) injuries Hannan is playing with ATM. He has not been able to show his tricks as he did last year. When Im generous of spirit, I think he is playing with injuries....

Alas, thats not my mindset a lot of the time.

WB, i'm not suggesting you are suggesting it but i don't think Kev was suggesting there were any issues with the team being lighthearted.

All the forwards were out at 9.30 with Rawlings practicing goal kicking, did it till the rest of group arrived. Gawn and Preuss also with them

Hannan is fully fit, agree looks like he will be omitted

I was really looking forward to seeing Hannan this year and was backing him in for a big year.

Unfortunately, he was cruelled by injury.

It also seems, however, that he was further cruelled by being selected straight up without regaining match fitness and confidence at Casey. I will be most interested to see how Jetta goes this week as he also came back underdone.

I fail to see the logic in this.

Saty there is no way you can know this (unless of course you are his treating physician, in which case you might be reported for breaching privacy). Not even if Mitch told you himself. Surely you get that?

Apart from him telling me, watching him train at full speed and doing every single drill without an issue and not being hindered, without any noticeable strapping and no confab with medical or fitness staff  enough?

Actually nup, ... and no one is slighting you here, but it's still just training. Regardless of whether he completes it and does it at full speed.

Call it 'form' or 100% trust in his body after an injury, but the notion of playing injured still likely has an element of mental preparedness attached to it. Hannan doesn't look quite right playing, Jetta didn't look quite right last week either.

Jack Viney really only looks right since the bye if you ask me.

No excuses. They cross that white line then their fit and ready to play. Unfortunately Hannan just can't get his hands on the pill and a game or two at Casey will not hurt him. Find the pill, get a few kicks and kick a couple of goals will give him the confidence to find his way back to the one's before season is over.

Agree with what you're saying, but Hannan looks much like he always has to me. Let's not forget that while he's had his moments, he has always disappeared for long periods in matches, and bounced around between the 1's and Casey because of it.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
