You forget the Dream Time Game against Richmond & The Farm Game against Jeelong

Essendrug have a dream run considering the past few years

bastards should have spent 10 years in the amateur league as far as i am concerned

Unfortunately the reverse has happened and they've been rewarded for their cheating SW.  The AFL gravy train choofs onwards

Yes Rusty. We all remember what happened and how Essendrug produced nothing in writing ✍️

With the amount of tiggy-touchwood free kicks given today, I'm finding any game almost unwatchable, whether it be on GF or played on the moon

We did... we spanked their ignition for them.

I'm cynical enough to believe that the AFL are bending over backwards to rebrand Essendon as the darling of the competition.

I prefer to remember and see them as a club that systematically used performance enhancing drugs to cheat the competition.

In short, I hate them.

Hear, Hear.

They were temporarily punished but got the keep otherwise ill gotten gains. They got to keep the #1 draft pick in 2016 and got to keep whoever turned out alright from their top-ups and rookies. A MacDonald-Tip for one.

Words do not come close to describing how much i hate Essendrug, the fact that certain Media outlets want them to be my “Second” team is just plain insulting

Those bastards got away with it, and we    are supposed to applaud their return.

Never Forget

Deespise them...    and their efforts to cheat the competition,  and to put  'injections'  into young players,  who had little say in it.

Dont think “Birds of Tokyo” appropriate in any way shape or form

https://www.bbc.com/news/amp/world-australia-47796046

Only now read the announcement by the AFL that Birds of Tokyo are to play three songs before the game on ANZAC Day. I am appalled by the AFL's thinking. People are not there to be entertained before the match. They are there to remember and acknowledge the sacrifices of the men and women in war. Eddie McGuire's response to the backlash? "These days if you turn up to the MCG there's always rock music going on in the stands so it's not as if it's just quiet." What nonsense! So fans need to be entertained by loud rock music EVERY time they go to the football? NOT on ANZAC day surely. Birds of Tokyo, although I am sure they are fine young men, is just not appropriate, let alone having a rock band playing at all.

ANZAC Day is a morning of reflection and remembrance, followed by hopefully an entertaining enough game of football, without added razzamataz. I knew an Essendon supporter, who served in the war. He used to love the ANZAC Day matches. He would be turning in his grave.

They were put on the fixture due to the anzac day breaks. They had to play Friday so they and collingwood could have similar breaks... Only alternative would have been Richmond/Collingwood Thursday night & us vs Essendon on Good Friday which has been Norths game. Will be interesting if Essendon are scheduled next year

I hate them too.

Who remembers that idiot McAvaney saying that the drug cheats (actually he didn't refer to them as that) were everyone's second favourite team?  What a moron!!

AFL were falling all over themselves to reward Essendon in this year's fixture for finishing 11th last year.

Due to lack of disclosure, we still don't know what those young boys were injected with, and what lasting implications those substances may have on their future health. It is a disgrace. Then there is the talk of Hird coaching again, and some people loving the prospect. It makes me sick to the stomach. And just recently everyone got on their soap boxes to point at Melbourne and condemn them for "tanking". Again.

Hypocrisy at its finest.

I'm not against what Dank does.

Because I also use vitamins,  minerals,  Maca,  and other herbs like Tumeric, etc,  from time to time.

And I gave many of those things to my Pet,  who had become Arthritic from a trial drug to kill cancer cells...  the trial drug worked...  but the side effect was Arthritis,  within 10 days of the trial.

The Maca, and the Tumeric were fantastic for the Pet.

So I'm Ok with leading edge trialing of certain substances,  which are said to have better health benefits... just do not agree with the use of,  for cheating, and for exploitation.

If the person is fully aware of what they're doing... and the mentioned benefits/negatives of the substances, then I am OK with it... and particularly so,  for terminal illnesses... where all options,  or most options,  are already used up.

...............................

It's those who go into these things to cheat our systems in order to be better, in sport say,  over the others in the competition... the Bombers, and they're officials who condoned those secret operations are a disgrace.

They should Never be allowed back into the sport,  in any administrative type level.

I agree! I take many vitamins and drugs because of a health issue, but recommended by my doctor. Some drugs were very new, just come out of trials. But to inject healthy, young, athletic men with substances unknown for so called health benefits, well, what was the purpose? It can only be called cheating.  I really dislike the way it is glossed over and all seems to be forgiven.

Yep,  the issue is the boys didn't really do the wanting of these things.

It was a club administration LED course of events... even to the point of leasing a secret house,  and hiring a nurse to inject the players.

And the players had no understanding of what the injections were,  and still don't.

I cannot believe the Bombers got off so lightly...  and how the footy fraternity is so blaze` about it. all these days.  This has to be about 10 times worse,  than if a club threw a game.

I can't think of anything that could be worse in sport.

A disgraceful decision by the AFL. See above for my post for my thoughts on this farce. I forgot to mention- when will the minute silence be done among all this noise? The AFL seem to think we want our senses assaulted with light and noise when we attend the football. It is not a rock concert for goodness sake. This season is getting more and more ridiculous.

The AFL really didn't think this one through did they? Come on, how thick can you be?

I don't care if they are the best band in the world, the next Beatles, whatever, but guys and girls.Come on! Beats head against wall.

Why did both Collingwood and Essendon get 7 and 6 day breaks respectively for ANZAC day and us and Richmond only get 4 day breaks. We should have been given Thursday/Friday games.

Your thinking is way too logical for the AFL to contemplate.

It is appearing to be the AFL intention, no doubt. It follows the '...all is forgotten...' syndrome, doesn't it?

We simply do not matter. The recent successes of the Tiges can absorb any unfavourable draw outcomes, particularly if it enables some distinct advantage for the turnstile-pride of the Filth and Essendrug fans. Coffers straight to the bank for the AFL, with some directed part-expenditure keeping the Anointed ones happiest. Anyway, it will all be forgotten half-way through next week as the money-laundering rolls on.

The Celebration Matches are one of the reasons there will never be a 17 game season. (Not that there ever will be.)

Richmond and Melbourne get 4 day breaks each, so whilst that's a short break, there's no advantage/disadvantage to either club as we're both in the same circumstances.

Collingwood get an extra night off than Essendon but were up in Brisbane.

If they'd done the Richmond v Collingwood and Essendon v Melbourne thing, both games would have one side with an extra day's break to their opponent.

Next year Easter is two weeks prior to ANZAC Day. Easter isn't this late again until 2025.

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
