2 days until the game

i was hoping for more time before I have to watch the Dees play again

We will win this and change the tragectory of the season.

Small grounds suit us, until we adapt to the 6-6-6  rule. We were better on smaller grounds last year before the AFL changed the rules and unfairly lessened our recruitment strategy of competitive beasts.

Lose it and its light out for 2019.   We aren't coming back from 0-4 especially with our tough draw.

I'm with you. If this was at the G It would be a certain loss,  but I have a feeling the SCG will suit us due to lack of open space. They are only slightly quicker than us if at all so pace won't destroy us like Essendon did.

We'll win this.

Smaller ground, one day extra break.

McVeigh a big loss. Hayward as well, makes them need to go to Buddy more.

Let the system go... just play and enjoy.

Went looking for the odds with betting agencies absolutely staggered to see most have the odds around the mark or Swans $1.75 to Dees $2.10.

I was hoping for some $3 plus value on us. My feelings before each game has come to fruition this year but I’m confident of a win this week... Maybe more hoping because I’ll be up there

You think that's a good thing for us?

Yep, even more predictable than it already is.

See Carlton last week.

I'm not sure any ground particularly suits us especially a smaller ground against very quick opposition.

Just imagine ( painful as it is ) just how quickly Sydney can go coast to coast on their beloved turf ( non-lawn, paddock ) ??

From extended kickins..quick flick to Buddy... goodnight Irene.

This is a monumental blood bath in the making.Fun days ahead.

Not sure why folks think SCG is a 'small ground':  155m L x 136m W.

As a reminder:  Round 2, 2019 @ gmha:  170m L x 115m W.  We lost by 80 points.

It is the wider grounds that trouble us because opp spread wide and stretch our defences on the outside.  SCG has more room for this play than gmha had.  If we can't win on a ground that is 115m wide I can't see it happening on one that is 20m wider.

I’m mates with a bloke who is a pro punter (alberit on horses and dogs) and he has had a massive bet on us @2.20

seems unders to me.

How many of the people saying we are certainties this week tipped against us the past three weeks?

Certainties to win...or lose lol . Just asking.

I reckon we're a dead set cert this week ;)

We will beat Sydney. Franklin will run Frost into form.?

I think we will win this one on the smaller ground, but then lose to St Kilda at the G next week.

Have a sneaky suspicion it might be the other way round ;)

Am expecting a masterclass from buddy on Thursday... who's going to stop him ?

I have a feeling I’ll be crying into my wine by quarter time as Buddy kicks his 17th goal.

I think I am correct in saying that Buddy hasn’t played in a loosing team against Melbourne. Time to break another Hoodoo DEES ?

I too have a bad feeling he is due for a big game.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

  • GAMEDAY: Essendon

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
