Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I wonder if we've made it to another banner's worth of derision yet

To be fair Omac was looking the goods a few years back under Rawlings. Then along cake Chaplin.

First things first Chaplin needs to go, then we can assess whether or not the issue actually is with OmAC or not. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Chaplin telling him to play loose off his man.

No, never.

ground coverage we couldn't cover the ground tonight as it was,  with all the space we allowed them.   They cut us up with that space.  These two players are 2 of our best distance runners,  with our style, we cannot lose them. or things will bet worse.

What your asking for is a total change of gamestyle and personnel. And we do not have the skilled players to play that way.

Sorry DV8 but all ANB does is run laps around the MCG a million miles from the footy and when he does get near it or heaven help us gets it he turns it over. That dropped chest mark is a good example. Fine to have runners but they  indeed need to be also footballers.

lost the game there. itnis demoralising.

It's the most frustrated I've been at a player for a long time.  I'm said elsewhere that moments before that he fumbled a ball at half forward, and then he goes and drops a simple chest mark under no pressure.  Unforgivable stuff.

Our contributions to the Club, outside of words, are enormous. Maybe our words are the best gift that we can present, after all. Everything else is ignored. The banner could state the facts as these are seen by the supporters, the general footballing public and the Club members. Somehow, we seem to be out of control, rabid and full of expectation to be heard now that Pert is in the chair. Maybe not?

The 'avoid impact' at all costs and the running out of the zone as soon as teammates arrive to take the blame/provide support by leaving their own zone and/or opponents to assist in a crisis and then appear to be responsible for the error - after the fact - for a stuff-up or failure have always been characteristic OMac on the field. Long sentence and description, but a long journey for teammates with no end in sight.

I’d love to know how many (or how few) hours the coaches are putting in to working on ANB’s touch to fix his fumbles.

He should be spending at least two hours a week just working on this. I’d be shocked if they have spent two hours in total over his whole career judging by how often he still fumbles.

I reckon it's a game-day pressure thing.

He is probably clean and crisp at training but once opposition heat is applied in the cauldron atmosphere of a H&A game he seems to crumble.

It's the only explanation I can think of because if that is simply a reflection of his level of ability (i.e. dropping sitters and fumbling ground balls) then he wouldn't even be a VFL standard footballer.

Incorrect, our whole team is a dysfunctional mess.

I was referring to Hunts role... and the 3 smalls  (chandler, bedford or spargo)  would be better in our congested dysfunctional forwardline.

He can be as dumb as dog poo for all I care if he kicks 3 every week. Weren’t you one suggesting for him to play in the forward line?

I called for Hunt to play from deep forward,  leading out toward the ball.  (in an open sort of forwardline with clean ball coming in)

But our ball coming in is so chaotic,  he will struggle in congestion, as we all saw.   It only worked when he got alone.  He was lucky johnny on the spot, last night.

...  but how many did he create for others ???

I haven’t seen Chandler or Bedford play so I can’t possibly make a comment on either. You have obviously seen them play to make that judgement.

Hunt was good in my opinion last night, at least he was in some kind of spot. The forward line seemed more open to me in the 2nd when T Mac was off injured. As to your question, Hunt had one goal assist and 10 score involvements, whatever they mean.

Yes,  that's right,  and he contributes to us closing down space defensively.   This is important to our gamestyle of pressing back and forward,  to close off escape routes.

This gamestyle isn't working atmo...  but that is not ANB's fault.

It's others not defending properly, and running hard enough.  Some aren't...  and some can't,  by the looks of them. TMc.

I think this is why they are playing TMc deep, and Weide high. TMc's playing hurt.

Yep and neither have I,  'DZ'.   but their speed and agility,  and that quick footy IQ that comes with being a handy small footy player,  would enable them to get around much traffic. causing Oppo defenders more pressure.

Petracca and Hunt struggle by foot in congested traffic     which is what we're getting atmo.

This is why I want Petracca in the midfield,  where his lack of agility quickness... will be less telling.

Also he will find more space in general play, playing thru the middle of the ground...  to use his foot skills.   in time and space.

Another thing is,  he will be better matched thru the middle...  he'll have to contend less often with larger opponents, than he has to up forward.   His creativity should be more noticeable.

At the moment Tracca is very one-dimensional... and defenders would be happy to play on him.   He's too heavy,  and so is too slow up front.

Our forwardline is like treacle, with Tracca and TMc there.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
