Frost is bad but with may and lever he stays.

Oscar does not kill the ball. Has stopped going for marks. And gets purified too often. I like Petty. Play the kid.

ANB has concrete hands and runs around in circles. not a fan of stretch but he is a better option.

Hibberd, Jones, Tmac, Frost are playing like trash but there is not much better at Casey and they just have work their way through it.

Melksham, jetta, kk also need some runs.

That's nearly half the team. Not to mention the non existent defensive structure.

I get that we need scapegoats, but the fact that we have a thread where we manage to pinpoint just two players is over the top.

They weren’t our worst.

ANB is actually amazing the way he can run so many kilometres with no  impact on the game and hardly touch the ball.

But he will get a game next week because Goodwin is obviously obsessed with him running around like a [censored] headless chook.

ANB will sleep with the light on tonight... pathetic.

Oscar would be average at best at local level, bewildering how he gets a game.

Oscar has to go to Casey or forward. Preferably Casey.

Hunt is NOT the answer. no brains and takes the easy way too often, resulting in lesser outcomes for us defensively...  offensively has not smarts.  >>> Casey. and out...

Stretch in as the Next.

Petracca cannot be started in the Forwardline.    He makes us too slow.   Which results in our forwards being further under pressure,  each time.

He has to play in the guts,  or at Casey...  even if he kicks a goal occasionally,  his effect on the forward half is pressure on us.

We cannot lose ANB we need his spread.  losing JKH has hurt.

Brayshaw isn't quick and is butchering the ball into F50...  He stays in.

Essendon beat us, because of nippy players,  and our zone destroyed us...  we gave them more space then Alpha Centauri.   They're nippy players cut our defenders to ribbons.

Agree Dazzle, awful footballers. All ANB can do is run, his skills are putrid, Oscar is close to the worst tall defender i have ever seen at any club, they'll get a game next week, they always do, no matter how bad they play

FFS, just bring in Petty and/or Kielty. I’m losing faith, but Frost at least has some point of difference with his speed. However Oscar McDonald is not up to it. Never has been, never will be.

Oscar had 1 intercept possession. 1. One. Uno.

Imagining playing 120 minutes of football as a key defender and only once getting the ball from the opposition. That's laughable.

Is Frost better or worse, I'm not sure, but the guy at least will get the ball back sometimes.

Oscar was an ok talent - nice kick, works hard, seems like a good guy - but he never had the speed in the legs or speed in the mind and he's peaked. He had a good go of it the last two years but there just seems nothing left in terms of physical ability, physicality or picking up the game quicker.

agreed. now was the time for him as a more experienced player to take the game on, kill the ball and take some intercept marks. try and be like Astbury at Richmond. but hes bereft of confidence.

unfair to bring in Petty till hes cherry ripe.

ground coverage we couldn't cover the ground tonight as it was,  with all the space we allowed them.   They cut us up with that space.  These two players are 2 of our best distance runners,  with our style, we cannot lose them. or things will bet worse.

What your asking for is a total change of gamestyle and personnel. And we do not have the skilled players to play that way.

As for ANB - it's the same thing. Had a good go at it as one of the fittest players in the comp and that's why he keeps getting picked.

Our runners aren't fit enough so we pick the best runner, it's simple logic really.

But as our game style has been worked out he's another guy who doesn't bring speed, doesn't bring ball winning ability and certainly doesn't have the skills required.

He was a useful role player who out shone his talent but eventually those kind of guys fall back to the pack more often than not. The game evolves and unless they adapt they struggle.

Yeah Petty makes me nervous, I really like him so don't want him burnt before he gets a fair run at it. If he were playing down back I'd give Keilty a go. In fact I'd send him down back at Casey whenever they next play. Tim Smith and Preuss might be the more likely forward options anyway.

Playing as a second defender. I think he is ready. On a Reid or Tom mccartin. Wouldn't let him take buddy but as a second kpp, yes.

Reads it well and backs himself to mark it. Skills are OK. Play em

Yes they were

Both are average players. I don’t expect them to be world beaters.

We should be a lot more concerned that TMac, Hibbo, Jones, Jetta and a whole host of other very good footballers have gone backwards or reached the end of their career at such rapid pace.

Oscar has gone backwards from last year.

And Frost is a mobile 3rd tall,. utility type,  being asked too much of.  Hibberd as well has lost all confidence and faith in our defence,  and Jetta is struggling as well, to cover off all the holes.   None of our mids are helping the backs out.

we are a shell of last year and we lack TYMc's power running as he is injured,  as plainly is Viney.

All our guns are playing hurt, and/or out injured.

We have to bring in all out pace to chop-out our walking wounded.

And Max... stop kicking the footy on the run.

I would normally agree with you, and indeed I'd probably prefer not to have a thread designed to just take pot shots at players.

But unfortunately Oscar and ANB are holding us back. They're not just adding nothing, they're detracting from the side.

Tom Bugg used to get games because he was a renowned runner. But he had no skill, couldn't kick goals, and made momentum-killing errors. ANB is now in the same boat. The side needs him to be dropped. We need him out of the side, we need him to take his tank and go run around the VFL collecting disposals and getting back into the groove of finding the ball, getting it, and using it.

Oscar's gone backwards, or at the very best hasn't improved at all. He's weak, he approaches contests half-heartedly, his positioning is terrible, and he appears afraid to be involved in offensive chains. The sooner we can drop him for May/Lever/Petty/anyone, the better.

And on your final sentence - if they weren't our worst, the only competition for a worse player tonight was Jones.

Goodwin must send ANB back to Casey.  It’s a no brainer.

as for Oscar, we are stuck with him and Frost until mid season.  Our so called depth is just BS.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team.
