Final Score Casey 12.7.79 to 7.9.51

Preuss kicked Casey’s last goal (if you’re looking for emergencies)

Edited by KC from Casey

Foes the MFC or Casey teitter account disabled?

Absolutely poor coverage once again from our pathetic media team.

It’s a VFL practice match Dazzle.

I wouldn’t expect too much.

Casey defeated Geelong 12-7-79 to 7-9-51

Carryover emergency : Hore

Goal scorers : 2 Stretch, T.Smith, Keilty, Gent 1 Preuss, Chandler, C.Wagner, Munro

TEAM

B: WHITE, HUTCHINS, TYNAN

HB: J.WAGNER, PETTY, MUNRO

C : BAKER, MAYNARD, MCCAFFERY

IC: STOCKDALE, STEPHENSON, D.COLLIS, W.COLLIS, M.LEWIS, WALE-BUXTON, D.FRITSCH, GAHAN

SPARGO: Disappointing, slow start got into it a little bit but is a long way from a senior recall.

BEDFORD: Quiet done a few good defensive things finds it hard to find the ball.

STRETCH: Had a blinder he was everywhere and kicked 2 goals very close to senior selection.

MAYNARD: Nothing to write home about really a few good inside things but he isn't playing near his best like he did a few years ago.

PREUSS: Beat his opponent in Zac Smith but needs to do more around the ground.

BAKER: Just a game done a few good runs but that was about it.

PETTY: A class above Oscar should be in the side. Done everything right.

CHANDLER: A work in progress but showed some good signs.

T.SMITH: After a slow start worked into it Pretty well, missed a few shots but kicked 2.

C.WAGNER: Fantastic game but let's himself down by foot sometimes.

J.WAGNER: Really good second half a solid backman.

KEILTY: After a good start realitively quiet took some good marks.

McCaffery spent the second half on the bench not sure if injured.

Good to see Hutchins at full back as solid as ever don't play him forward again.

I'd rather wait and bring him in when he is smashing the door down, full of confidence.

A backline of May, Lever and Petty is so much more inspiring than with OMAC and Frost in there.

I think some context is required when discussing Petty.

He was playing in a VFL practice match, it's a massive step up to AFL.

I think Petty will absolutely become a permanent fixture of our backline in the future. He's 197cm, agile for a big man and from what I've seen reads the play well and has decent disposal.

But he is not ahead of OMac or Frost yet and should continue to develop at VFL level this season unless we have a ridiculous amount of injuries (fingers crossed).

FYI I'm looking forward to a back 6 next season of:

Jetta         May       Lever

Hibbo       Petty      Salem

Agree, especially when coupled with @WERRIDEE's well known 'love' for OMac and Frost.

I prefer Frost I still like his speed and could be a good match up on Rohan. Oscar gives us nothing.

Yeah he's fast but did you see his 4 runs last weekend that ended in a turnover? He is DUMB

Thanks to @WERRIDEE for scores and goalkickers. Assume the club might have some sort of bash at VFL coverage once the real stuff starts, but given that the last two weeks have been trial games for senior selection in all but the award of premiership points their commitment to telling people what's going on has been pox.

You can say that again DD.  Our backline would probably be the worst in the AFL right at this moment.

Probs why we are bottom of the ladder...

thanks Werridee!

So you would think Stretch will be looked at.  could he play the small fwd/crumber role we are desperately in need of??

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • PREGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne

After four weeks on the road the Demons make their long awaited return to the MCG next Sunday to play in a classic late season dead rubber against the North Melbourne Kangaroos. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
