I just watched the video ‘inside the top 4 picks’ posted by the AFL.  On AFL.com.au if you can stand it.

Some points:

Carlton delayed making their first selection for several minutes for no reason.

Gold Coast were about as interested as someone inspecting someone else’s tinea.

They all think they are comedians.

Saint reckon drafting King was worth 10000 members!

Shows what a complete and utter toss-fest the event was.  Poorly delivered viewing experience, and stage managed by idiots.

THis should have been footage that should never have been allowed out.  Awful stuff.

It's been spoken about elsewhere - all selections were to be spaced out for 5 minutes as a directive, irrespective if you were clear on your decision immediately.

Appreciate your opinion on the quality of the viewing, I for one don't care for it - and thousands of others would say that both you and I are wrong.

People vote with their time and their money :) and it's all their discretion.

LOL just watched it and and I can not believe the official site uploaded that for all to see.

Just confirmed what we all said on the night, the whole event was farcical.

All clubs were instructed to take the full 5 minutes, even if they had decided in the first 15 seconds.

5 minutes is a little overkill but a good panel, good tv interview and clever highlights can and should take 3-5 minutes per pick if done properly.

If the AFL mandates 5 minutes then take all of the time just in case a late trade happens. Why not?

The bottom clubs will do anything for PR. We should all know that, it wasn't long ago that we were doing that and you never know when it might happen to us again.

To be honest, I haven't seen the video and didn't watch draft night either, but from past experience and what I'm hearing it sounds like it could all be done a whole lot better.

If the AFL and TV producers can get some more exposure and advertising sales out of it then why not and let's face it, there is probably a market for it at that time of year, when some people are probably craving some more footy action and/or if you are a struggling club as we have been in the past, it's probably one of the football highlights of the year.

By the sounds of it though, probably less focus on draft night proceedings/machinations and more emphasis on player highlights, bio's etc could be more like what's required.  It could actually be a good opertunity to provide a bit of airtime and public reconition for the TAC/underage comp level coaches etc.

Draft night should have been all done and dusted in 90 minutes, for it to drag over 2-3 days was just wrong on so many levels

But it’s the AFL so i know what to expect

Have only heard bad things about the new format and can now see why. Carlton sitting there for 5 minutes while Sam Walsh twiddled his thumbs was idiotic.

Seeing the head coach read out the player’s name and handing them the jumper was a great feature and that’s been stripped as well by the looks. Now it’s just Gil meandering on and off stage? How inspiring.

They make sme odd decisions.

If the game of Australian Football wasn’t so wonderful and great, those running the AFL would be homeless beggars.

20 years ago i said to mates that Reserves Footy would return at some stage. It’s what the paying fans want.

That’s just one decision, that has nearly killed of the VFA sides sadly, the draft night telecast was so cringeworthy i felt genuine sorrow for the production crew working it.

Same goes for GF Day. The league have no idea how to structure the day anymore.

A Curtain Raiser is what it lacks...

But no they have to Americanize it all now...

The things displayed, decided-upon and the collective behaviours of appointed representatives of the AFL and Clubs has reached low tide, that is for sure. Gil and company have much to answer for in their clamour for those things - including their own personal fame and fortunes - that appeal to pea-brain, toothless Filth supporters and perhaps some from Carlscum with similar throng mentality.

That's a tautology, isn't it?

    TRAINING: Friday 28th February 2025

A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you their observations from today's training session before the Demons head off to Perth for their final Practice Match. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Beautiful morning, not much wind, more than a couple of dozen spectators.  The players were up and about, boisterous and having fun. One of their last drills were three teams competing in a hard at it, handball game in a small area. Goody

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits.
