You’d be lucky to find them on here as they generally only attend the big matches (as depicted above) and wouldn’t visit Demonland where most of us are passionate enough to be members. Many are very wealthy (but mean) and often bowl up and congratulate you on a great win (as though they contributed in some way)! They squirm when you regularly ask them ‘have they joined the MFC yet’ responding with: ‘why as I am a MCC member and don’t need to?’ We don’t respect them!

Cool story bro. If you know us MCC members so well, riddle me this - why aren’t I rich and why am I a member of the MFC?

My initial anger at your ILL INFORMED comments has subsided and realize that your comments are just plain stupid. One only has to see the scarf's in the reserve with both MCC/MFC  signs. This season coming up I shall be 60 years a member of the MFC.  I'm still shaking my head at your comments and if you read many comments on DL you would realize many are MCC members.

Precisely the same for me and my dees loving family. We are all MFC/MCC members and love to be that category to boost numbers.

We cheer just as loud, are just as proud and go to as many games as we can (when we're not on hols in Port Douglas or Fiji that is )

Don't tar us with that brush CB

Hasty illfounded generalization. Can you provide any figures to suggest that the patterns of attendance at MFC games by MCC members differs from other supporters. I have been a member of the MFC for over forty years and a member of the cricket club. From my observations from both in the members and the outer, in  dark times supporters are just as scarce in both areas. In fact, possibly because, in the old days, you could seek sanctuary in a good bar as Melbourne were being thrashed yet again, the members that did attend outlasted those in the outer.

There are any number of Demonland contributers and readers who are MCC members, however these sort of illconsidered comments only serve to alienate the people who the club are trying to reach out to.

If this is the standard of your contribution I neither want nor seek your respect.

Actually you do have a point (if IMHO badly expressed). I know MCC members who claim to support the Football Club yet don’t know much about the team and never go to matches. How wealthy they are,, I’m not sure?. It’s an interesting fact about MCC members, as many as 40% never go to events and of the remaining 60%, maybe 30% go to a match (cricket or football) once or twice a year.

So, you pay $15.00 a year membership, lucky bu#*er! There’s that story from a few years ago concerning the man who travelled from England to attend the 50 year lunch. It was his first visit to the MCG!

No not that long with the MCC. It's with the MFC (footy club) 60 years. In our group we  have a few 50 year + MCC members and yes they only pay $15.00. Importantly ALL of my group are also footy club members.

Ha! At first glance the interests that you list in your profile along with where you live all look like top end of town pursuits to me:

"Inner Melbourne

Interests:diving with big sharks, racing windsurfers, contemporary art, consuming fine wines & watching the Dees"

I am sure that you would argue otherwise and I am certainly not going to fall into the trap of applying stereotypes to you either.

I can confirm that I only share one of those pursuits and that is following the Dees.  I am a 40 year member of the MCC and also an MFC member since I have been back in Australia (20Years). I have some coin for which I have worked unashamedly hard for.

Why would you set out to exclude such a major part of the fan base when together it makes us one of the powerhouses of the league.

Seriously!

I'm an MCC member and have missed 2 games since 2006. So i take offence to the 'only attend big matches'. I am of the opinion that the MCC members is always busy during Melbourne games and always looks more full than the members section of the Southern Stand. I note that the red seat members seem to be in attendance in bigger numbers than the Southern Stand.

Oh and I am an 8 year consecutive member of the MFC and buy a full membership, not the associate one. i had always been a member of both MFC/MCC. I used to be a Redlegs member but no longer commit to such a high package,

Exactly.

We've been the butt of jokes for many years, let's not turn on each-other.

I love my MCC membership but recognise that the reason I go to the G is to watch the Dee's so I buy the MCC/MFC membership so the club gets money from the pleasure they provide me (well, the pleasure they sometimes provide me).

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
