Yep, that’s interesting. If true, I wonder if Dean Kent leaving to go to the Saints represented the loss of a mate in circumstances where he was already feeling a bit isolated, and he just thought - it’s time.

I heard (again hearsay to the power of the distance between the Earth and the Sun) that the leadership group wasn’t entirely happy with him. Added to this, a mate who’s wife is best friends with the wife of an absolute club legend (former player) told me that Hogan’s name was involved in trade discussions last year - I didn’t post it at the time because I couldn’t be bothered dealing with the wrath of a few here.

Anyway - whatever the reasons, he’s now gone. As I said, he seems like a decent fellow - but, as an observer from afar, Hogan’s relationship with the club always had an awkwardness about it.

I think I’m going to love Sam May.

There is a miss conception by some on Demonland.  The preferred position by our FD is and has always been for JH to stay. Let me make this point with absolute and clear authority. I have been told directly.

The MFC is becoming a destination club. The FD is aware that doing the right thing by players...... even contracted stars to purse their own journey is required to becoming a destination club.

As I have said before, this situation only started because JH  in his end of season interview said he would not sign a contract extension over summer. He had yet to make a decision on whether he would move at the end of his contract.  The discussion went forward from this point. He has never requested a trade.

JH is happy to play for the Dees next season and is far from a certainty to ask to be traded next season. Talk that our FD preferred him to leave or thought we would have a more balanced team without him is utter and complete rubbish.

I cant say this strongly enough. It is a fact. Our FD is ecstatic that JH appears to be staying for 2019.  They are more than hopeful he will end up signing an extension. The FD are thinking this is his Dusty moment.

It’s nice that you’re going to love Sam May but how will you feel about Steven, Ron?

Apart from the last paragraph it seems on the money. We wanted him to stay overall as he is a gun. He wouldn’t commit so we supported a trade.

He is a skilled bullshit artist. All his posts have an element of credibility, that’s why so many believe his crap.

Observable reality (if you’re smart enough) screamed that we came into this trade period ready to trade out Hogan and move on May.

The fact that Mahoney inelegantly admitted that we won’t get May if Hogan isn’t traded revealed how desperate we were to send Hogan to Fremantle; we were actively recruiting a player with the riches from trading Hogan.

!

Its a maths equation: x requires y and we want x, so y has to happen and did happen.

I agree with the above. Although we came to this situation as hogan wouldn’t commit and/or wanted to go home.

Thats my point. Not trying to stick up for gnf

It was widely known and commented on that Hogan and the club ended up where they did because Hogan wouldn’t commit past next season. GNF only posted that after Bell stated Fremantle we’re walking away from negotiations, he plays the percentages and then claims the information he receives comes from a source within the club. He’s pretty much always wrong though.

There's a bunch of outraged posters in the first 15 pages of this thread who claimed emphatically that Hogan was settled and going nowhere, so there was no point in continuing with the thread.

Certainly come around to bite a few on the bum

Maybe.

We've got a star tall defender and a best 22 winger out of our loot - can't tell you what BL and GWS get out of theirs...

Might have to fly over again for this one. @McQueen @Ethan Tremblay. You might finally get that beer I owe you.

Next time you’re over we’ll plan to meet at the Alby bar.

I don’t think I left there much after quarter time of the prelim. Maybe for a pee.

Incorrect.

It has since come out that Hogan said in his exit interview he was hoping to explore the option of returning home.  He then had a coffee with Goodwin a week, or so, later and they both agreed to try and make it happen.

These facts are at odds with the poster in questions assertions.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
