Farewell Jesse Hogan

I'm happy with the deal and Hogan is now the enemy.

Overall, Hogan to Freo was the equivalent of pick 2.

Gee, I'm glad we've got some thoughtful posters in here, amongst all the hysterics.

So whats on telly tonight.... the very best of ....Trade Week......watch as dimwits and nimrods talk twadlle and reminisce about all those glorious moments......

Sounds marvee

( what were they thinking !! )

Standards have slipped.

But when you look at what else is on, perhaps this is not so bad.

No just reflective of the general standard of daily TV.

Lowest common denominator.

And the sad thing is..........people will watch it.

Hogan was always going home, he was homesick the whole time he lived in Melbourne, never settled, good luck to him, he’ll love being back in Scarborough but he will never play in a premiership team now...

Thanks Beelz....Do you think we should get out the money costumes we made for Scully and wear them again when we see Jessie at the G?

I guess no because I never really loved Scully....but Jessie ..to me he was a Jesus who smoked the odd dart.

My inflatable Jessie Hogan is sitting in the corner of the lounge room right now . . . Scared . . . Scared of the fork that's coming from the kitchen drawer . . . He knows he's going in the bin (aggressively deflated) but doesn't know exactly when.

I'm actually having fun with this

For you don't love me
And I'll always be crying over you
Crying over you
Yes, now you're gone
And from this moment on
I'll be crying, crying
Crying, crying
Yeah, crying, crying
Over you

Don't cry for me, Jesse Hogan
The truth is, I never left you
All through my wild days, my Neeld existence
I kept my promise
Now keep your distance

Put a line through T Smith as he is a VFL player only - I asked the same question in another post I think we are light on for tall forwards too

You can also put a line through Keilty, Petty and J Smith. For 2019 at least

I didn't realise how much I liked Hogan until he actually left us.

Lot of great memories of him in the forward line, but all good things have to come to an end.

He wanted to leave, and that's fine. We got what we wanted in the end. Let's see if May & KK can bring us the same good memories. I still think we have an exciting future ahead and 1 man doesn't make a team.

All the best on your return to Perth Jesse,  even though I hate Freo, but wish you the best (even though you play for scum).

I posted last year that my gut feeling was Watts and Hogan wouldn't be at the club this year (before Watts was traded).

I was a bit late with Hogan but it just always felt like it was a matter of time before he went home.

cmon man thats rubbish to even suggest that

I must admit to feeling completely cold and indifferent to this trade.

Usually I feel emotionally tied to players and always hate to see them go.

Not a criticism of Jesse just the way I feel.

And the Club has gone about its business in an entirely professional manner.

Farewell, Jesse. I will miss you, but I will not miss your Hogan's Going Home saga.

Could you put a demos jumper on Jesus , smoking a dart and the no 1 on the back and I'll frame it.

Bent over yet again.

The way people are talking about "bent over", it must be some kind of biscuit I've not heard of

It really annoys me that people have a go at the disappointed posters.  Hogan is a generational player, he held our aspirational hopes for a long time and we became attached to him.  I can't believe there is anyone not sad to see him go.  Those knocking the disappointed are just jerks.

There's a difference between being sad to see Hogan go and canning Mahoney.

I know it doesn't get him to WA,, but would we consider a straight trade with Gold Coast for Steven May, who now need a key forward to replace Lynch. Or more likely, a three club deal involving Freo in some way.

Effectively this is what happened. And back in August plenty piled on to old Allus, saying he had no idea about modern list management. Allus know of which he speaks.

Sorry @Demonland , but the "bent over" biscuit was crying out for this.

A jam centre ?

I reckon Hogan's days at Melbourne were numbered when it became apparent we played a better style of footy when he was missing. Not saying Hogan is no good, just that we seem to gel better all over the ground when he is out. After that it was a matter of the footy department deciding what style of players we most needed, and could trading Hogan get those players in.

I never feel the same about players traded in as those drafted.  Bernie aside.

Don't worry, you're not alone. Plenty of Melbourne supporters feel the same.

I don't know why. As soon as they pull on our jumper, they're ours.

I really rate Hogan and I am not as bullish about our ability to win without him as others are - it's a bit of a ruse as we've improved as a team and should be able to win without him.  But win big?  That's a different story.

On the surface of it,  it feels like unders but reading between the lines,  there's seems to be a bit more to this trade than we can readily see.  If Hogan dominates for Freo as I reckon he may well do,  the loss will be even more transparent.

May will improve the team but I'm still big on good key forwards in September so we will need Weideman to perform if we're to challenge.  And T-Mac will need to continue performing.

The irony is that we'll probably now need to recruit a key forward.  The FD won't be satisfied with just the 2 realistic KPF options.  An injury to the prospect or the revelation leaves us short up forward.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
