Didn't the Freo statement say they were stopping the due diligence process? Does that mean if they do end up signing JH they won't have done their due diligence?

it is a negotiation.

I just cannot see this happening without a lot of back-pedalling from all concerned: Freo by upping their Trade offer, us by conceding on what we want (5 + one or two second rounders?), and Hogan by reducing his 8/8 demand.

Of course, if any one of those parties made serious concessions it could go through, but that looks increasingly unlikely.

The Neale deal will get done most likely. What I meant was it won’tĀ affect MelbourneĀ if it doesĀ ...Ā Hogan is not going to Fremantle this year.

Bell will be holding on to pick 5 in the superdraft andĀ either using it on aĀ gun young player or trading it for multiple first round picks.Ā 

Hogan to possibly go over in 12 months timeĀ at a cheaper priceĀ (yes even cheaper than 11 & future 2nd round). They (Hogan and Freo) likely already have a handshake agreement about this.

That’s the plan that makes most sense for them IMO. I’d do the same if I were them.

It’sĀ a bummer because the Dees miss out on May as a result and retain a wantaway forward on the list for another year.

Hopefully we can make the best of a difficult situation and win the 2019 flag with a professional Jesse giving his all for the cause throughout the season.Ā 

Some guys are capable of that level of discipline before they jump clubsĀ (Bryce Gibbs, Dangerfield) whereas others can’t cope with it mentally and their form dramaticallyĀ slumps.Ā

Just maybe their Board never was reliant on Bell; saw his flaws and inexperience as stark and similar reminders of past disappointments in the role of player recruitment and/or list management. Thus, they overplayed their own hand by getting too close to the action in a 'caring, steering, 'close scrutiny' role of control freakiness over Bell, who was easily manipulated in order to 'be successful' in such an important - and for him, new - role. It might appear that the AFL did in fact lavish the expense of a telephone call to the Freo Board to sort, stabilise and normalise their endeavours.Ā

Would be magnificent tbh. Our TMAC/WEID/Hogan forward line becomes ELITE in the Riewold/Lynch, Kennedy/Darling level. Lever &Ā Omac have great years, we capitalize on all close matches unlike last year, and have a full tiltĀ at a premiership from the top 2 with a 3Ā game MCG pathway in the finals despiteĀ defence still being one 'fragile' area of our game. Steven May holds out for one year and we pick him up next year in our quest to go back to back. All areas of our team become A+

    From the start, Melbourne’sĀ performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

    Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

    The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
