Interesting...

like i have said all along.

You do not sell a Ferrari at Commodore prices, if you do, then you are a fool.

What if you don’t actually own the Ferrari? You’ve merely got rights to it for another year. ?

Dockerland thinking.....

"I think Bell offering pick 11 for Kelly was a master stroke, I think he knew there was no chance he would accept the offer but at the same time Melbourne would've been peeing in their pants thinking that Freo is now trading away the pick we were offering up for Hogan.

This may be the attitude adjustment Melbourne need to take our offer of pick 11 plus our 2nd pick next year. "

No way Hogan goes for anything less than 2 first rounders .

If he does it will be for less than 2 first rounders.

I hated going to Freo games at Subiaco when he was playing. So many Dockers fans used to carry the little reception bells to the game and every time Bell got a touch the muppets would raise the bell and give it a ring.

It was beyond cringeworthy.

Years ago a Freo supporter was sitting in the MCC and the ring a little bell on the second level whenever the midgie got near the ball.

I proceeded to lob a wedge of Vacherin Mont D'or at the nuff's face which shut him up.

works only if Freo are near enough to the bottom to ensure no other club takes him first.

If Hogan rejects the offer he doesn't play.

Big stakes and in a way a silly deal from Hogan's perspective in the sense that the picks are inter club... he's only interested in the length of contract and dollars per year.

So in short unless Freo end up bottom any deal from this year is on the table next year if not better.

As an aside I cannot understand why Hogan does not want to go to WCE at the end of next year instead of to the perennial cellar dweller that Freo could be destined to become.

The three Quiz Questions (just to doodle away the time) are:

Which team will JH be playing for in 2019?

What day, and where, will the 2019 contract be signed, if required?

and, will he sign left or right handed?

My answers.......Freo, Wednesday, AFL HQ, and Left handed...

This is completely wrong.

Freo can offer Melbourne the same or most likely much worse trade terms next year with Hogan coming out of contract.

We’ll be forced then to take the scraps that they offer up or maybe a late first round pick (16-18) from West Coast ... if they’re interested.

Dees won’t have much of a leg to stand on next year and Freo know it.

I'm struggling to see the analogy - perhaps you can tease it out for me?

Who is God for a start off?

Pascal was the inventor of game theory.. (mind you it was not called that at the time).

Game theory works on the concept that both sides will take the probability that seems to give them the best outcome.

A belief in God was the example he used to demonstrate his theory in that it is better to believe that he exists because you can never be disappointed when you find out he doesn't.

Ah, but you'll never find out he doesn't if he doesn't.  I think Pascal put it the other way around.

The Club has not changed its stance. If the right deal gets done, then Jesse gets sold. If the deal we are offered is rubbish then Jesse stays at MFC.

So far Fremantle have offered rubbish. It’s quite simple

Nah, you're wrong though. Unless Freo is keen to roll the dice and potentially ck up another key forward's career (See Cam McCarthy).

If they can't get the deal done this year because they're not valuing him anywhere near his worth that will hurt their relationship with Jesse and his management. This hurts their chances to sign him next year.

If they try to force our hand by convincing Jesse to walk to the draft as an uncontracted player, they'd have to finish pretty damn low on the ladder; otherwise plenty of other teams at the bottom will be happy to grab him. This hurts their chances to sign him next year.

If they [censored] off the MFC and Jesse's camp they open the door to the Eagles. I'd be happy for us to accept less from the Eagles to spite Freo next year and I dare say Jesse would too given how drastically better West Coast are as a club. This hurts their chances to sign him next year.

Dockerland is at 20 pages on this subject and we are at 312.

Does this say anything about either team's following or is it just that weather in Perth is too good to be worried about such matters?

If you think they’re offering rubbish now just wait 12 months.

I don't believe Goody will want a player on his list next season that isn't 100% committed to the long term Demon cause. Nor should he. For that reason, i believe a deal will be done for Jesse next week.As much as I love Jesse as a player, he now has to go.

I disagree. Jesse never requested a trade which fits in with Melbourne's narrative. And he's too good a player to move on for the sake of it.

Expect another Bryce Gibbs 2017 situation where Jesse stays, has a good year, then moves to Perth in 12 months time.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
