Why would he publicly state anything?

Given the club has already publicly stated we're awaiting his decision on where he wants to be, then finding out that answer is logically next. Might not be through him, but I expect it'll be publicly stated.

The journo's airport ambush on Ch10 earlier showed the line of questioning that'll persist for Jesse until that question is answered

i agree. I say we stick to our guns, otherwise happy to have Hogan for 1 more season.  Hogan may even choose to stay after 1 season. A lot can happen in 1 season.

Jesse needs to make a decision. His heart obviously isn’t in it otherwise he wouldn’t have asked Goodwin about going to Perth. The longer this drags out, the less time we have to spend our compensation.

Beating around the bush isn’t going to do anyone any favours Jesse

you honestly think he hasn't ??

this played out months ago really

Was just thinking, if we could get 4/5 from Freo for Jesse and could get GC to accept our first pick in 2019 plus a player or another pick thrown in, we could have 2 early picks to use in this draft,

Only IF the AFL agree, for us to trade out our 1st Rnd pick again.

I expect we will get May + a first round pick or a player upon losing Hogan. If we get more, great. If it’s less I’ll back the FD in and try not to let my natural nuffy disappointment get the better of me.

[censored] oath Jesse needs to say something. What’s hiding from this going to do?

It is now just burning into our time to spend our picks 4 & 5.

He needs to man up and come clean on what he wants opposed to wasting everyone’s time.

He has been thinking about this for 6 years so what’s a couple days going to do? State your intentions Jesse so everyone can move on.

Maybe it’s simply a case of him saying I’d like to be traded back to Perth if a trade can be done. If not I will look at my options again at the end of 2019.

Had a chat with a mate of mine that is close to the club and this whole situation is very fluid.

Club will support whatever direction Hogan will decide upon as long as they get fair compo if he is open to a move. Current thinking is that Hogan will also support the club getting fair compo if that is the case.

It is far from certain that he will be open to a trade this season.

Possible outcomes:

Open to a trade as long as there is fair compo.

Stays put and extends contract till RFA.

He needs to say something opposed to skirting around it. We need more time to organise trades.

Honestly I hope media hassles the [censored] out of him until he makes a decision so we can get ourselves sorted before trade period ends.

Come on, don't be so impatient.. The club has said he'll tell them this week which is reasonable if he hasn't 100% decided which is quite possible.

So it seems to me like Hogan would actually consider how well Melbourne is compensated in the trade, as a factor in whether he will move.

If that's the case, it makes him the most loyal person ever to leave a club! :D

Given Freo may exchange pick 4 and 22 (via Neale Trade) for 9 and 10 from Port, I think I'd be pretty happy to get 2 out of picks 5/9/10 for Jesse

Push for 5 and 9, wouldn't lose sleep if it was 9 and 10 though. Then 10 and 43 for May and Kolodjashnij

All things aside...i totally agree.

You stay ,you go, you're ambivalent...

If he were staying this thread probably would not exist... it does !!

Doubt it

I think he'd prefer one of picks 4&5 staying at Freo and passing him the ball

Weren't they the same terms that Dangerfield gave Geelong too?

It’s clear as day his heart isn’t with the MFC

Maybe, his heart isn't in Melbourne, the city.  He looks more like a country boy to me.   Simple living may be whats required, for Jesse.

Fox Footy seem to think it's pick 4 only, and old mate Tom Morris thinks we can't have both Jesse and Steven May due to the salary cap. How do these people get jobs?

Watching the trade low down. It’s amazing how these muppets think pick 4 alone will get the deal done for Hogan, and that goes to Gold Coast to May. So effectively May for Hogan. Even trade radio are saying this also.

Wtf is wrong with the media?  How can these muppets possibly fathom that’s Hogan market value? Even Fremantle supporters are in agreeance with us realistically Hogan will cost two first rounders.

Call me what you want but if we accept pick 4 by itself for Hogan then hand that over for May I won’t buy my regular three memberships next year. That said I seriously can’t see that scenario happening, it is just that ridiculous to me.

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
