Farewell Jesse Hogan

Care to elaborate, Red?  I missed it tonight.

Yes. It wasn't the we would love to keep him type of comment, but rather we understand players move and there would be no hard feelings, unlike his move from the Crows. Then went on to talk about playing alongside May and how good that would be.

Just felt like he knew JH was gone and knew about another player coming in.

I am not sure if getting May would be of benefit especially as we already have a lot of tall defenders. I would like to see Hunt step like Harmes and become a champion smaller defender/mid. I don't think we could afford to lose him.

There could be a million reasons why this is happening and unless we hear the real ones from the people who know, we are all just speculating, but that is part of the fun of trade period.

Possible reasons this is happening, feel free to add your own:

Freo has offered ridiculous money.

Dees have decided not match the Freo offer in the coming years.

JH wants to go home to his family.

Dees are worried about his injury/injuries.

JH is not as close to the boys as he was.

JH is disappointed with our success without him.

JH always wanted to play for the team he supported.

Dees feel JH is not fully invested.

Dees see some negatives in his game.

Dees see some negatives in his attitude.

JH doesn't get on with some on the Coaching panel.

JH wants to play with a mate or mates at Freo.

Dees feel he won't be here in a year or 2 and don't want to hold back the development of game style and other players.

Dees feel we play ok without him.

Dees feel we can get an unbelievable deal now that will help us get to our next flag.

JH prefers Perth coffee.

Dees have promised number 1 to May.

JH is sick of the Melbourne music scene.

Etc. feel free to add your own.

Freo have offered stupid money.

Move heard, but I’m not sure if I believe Jesse wasn’t happy with how we’ve treated his foot injury

No but if it is a navicular, we may be very concerned.

Do it again and that is real trouble. The injury also affects jumping and running take off.

Hogan is clearly an incredible talent and it seems we were very fortunate to have landed him.

That said, we seem always to be walking on egg shells when it comes to Hogan and his medium to long term commitment to the club. The spectre of a return to Freo has been lingering like a bad smell forever, and, if as some say, a return to Perth is inevitable, it’s just a matter of when - then we’d be absolutely crazy not to consider an almighty deal right now if Freo is desperate to land him.

2 high first round draft picks at a minimum, one of which goes to the Suns for Steven May.

Major developments this evening... won’t say much more as I don’t have all the details.

Post it in the 'Rumour' thread - no need to spill the beans, just a few clues will do...

Include a few red herrings if necessary; even a riddle or two... ?

I reckon you're viewing the situation in a black and white manner. There is some grey...

I recon that's a big part of the problem.  I think Jessy needs to make up his mind and be fully committed one way or the other.  I don't think there can be any half heartedness where we are going.

Really looking for key players to form that tight knit take no prisoners and team is bigger than individual attitude like Geelong did at the start of their reign of sucess.  By fueling this continous speculation, I think Jessy is actually presently an impediment t that kind of commitment moving forward.

Was that while living in WA?

Interesting, as if so, it meant he couldn't see them play live very often.

Many people get confused as there was a picture of him wearing a Freo jumper when they were in a GF, was a Crows supporter as a kid.

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
