Nev Jetta take a bow you put Luke Breust into nightmare mode for the next 6 months and kept him goaless. Who was the all Australian you or him? Well done Nev you helped us win this game.

Our entire backline was superb today. I thought Oscar had a blinder on Roughy.

Nev is something else though. Just a superstar. Might get to take his cousin to the cleaners next week.

Yes, he was our only player that was rag dolled from start to finish

Seriously? They had so much respect for Gus that Clarkson tagged him! He was one of our best last week and stood up when we needed him most tonight. Star!

Also we [censored] won. We are in a prelim. What is even this world? Where am I? Someone send help.

anyone got a spare member barcode they can lend me?

This is where you - as one our most constant detractors over the year - may struggle to get communal support. Tell me what you currently think of Angus Brayshaw and I may just lend you my barcode . . . depending of course on your response.

Just so I don't seem like a complete [censored] - July 21 - Elegt on Goodwin: "would be pretty happy if they held a press conference tomorrow announcing his sacking. totally incompetent."

I don't actually have a barcode but I'm pretty chuffed with your even-handed response. Best of luck Elegt. Have faith.

Proudest I've been for this club, so many old timers there tonight who have been through so much.

We still have gears yet unseen.

Every heart beats true ❤️?❤️?❤️?

How good was Melkshams goal from 50 on the left foot to halt Hawthorns run.

Absolute clutch. As was Spargo's goal from the free kick.

Oliver's handball to Brayshaw who got it to the contest where Melksham critically goaled, was also incredibly clutch.

We played average and won, many players down on what they can do, no excuses no, we got our get of jail free card, need all to lift, because if we do,we can break the curse

What I found so impressive and a first for us, was our growing pressure into the game. Usually, when we start slightly off, you know that's it for the day and that's the intensity you're going to get for the duration.

We started a little poorly and were outplayed in the second quarter, but in the second half, our forward pressure went through the roof and we looked like we did last week.

This is a really good sign of maturity. Let's hope it continues.

Viney is a beast (some of the stuff he did in a he last quarter was awesome) and Harmes kept Tom Mitchell to 24 disposals which is a massive win.

Well done boys.

Viney's last ten minutes of the third won us the game IMO. He's such a superior leader to anyone else we've had in a long time.

And Harmes actually went to Smith in the fourth after he kicked that goal on the run. Nice move from the coaching box. Smith didn't get much of it after that.

Hard to argue with this. We are the real deal.

Lots to digest but the big for me was how much better we looked when we kicked to the top of the goal square and not to pockets.

We had so many set shots directly in front of goal which was great.

Can't do that against the Eagles though. Must lower the eyes again next week. Keep the ball away from McGovern and Barass.

The work rate to push up on the Hawks after they chipped it around and force them lateral or down the line, as well as the ferocious tackling, was phenomenal.

Great team effort.

We are a huge chance to beat WCE and move into a GF next week provided we remain focused.

Great win and team effort. 2 more to go

.... and two more and ....  ? !

I just got back from watching downtown in Indo, a few hawks got a little rowdy in the last after being pretty quiet. Then Milkshake shut em up. Not anything i can add really. However to see Ronald Dale sitting there smiling, said it all to me. The look on Clarksons face during the game, gold. They were never going to win. We have a team. There are 4 teams left after tomorrow night and we are one of them. TOP 4.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
