This topic seems oh so simple, but who do we like? As a drunk 36 year old sitting at a pub in Amsterdam, I was perusing DL and realised I hadn't seen such a topic. Basically, who's ya boy? Who's jumper number would you get on your back after a 2018 flag?

i'd go for Brayshaw. Love his passion and love for the Dees, on top of his obvious talent. He's great to listen to on the AFL Exchange podcast too. Loved attending a training sesh at Gosch's a few years ago and seeing him kick a banana from the boundary before falling back (opposite of face plant style) in the deciduous leaves that had gathered around him. Angus is mah boy!

Nev, embodies all that I want at the club. Have fun mate.

Jayden Hunt, notwithstanding he’s out of the team at present and has had a tough year. He’ll be back and will be huge for us in the years to come. Raw pace, great spring, manic attack on ball, huge kick. Just needs the experience and fitness to add to that and he’ll be awesome

Nev for me, tough, reliable  and highly skilled

James Harmes has bolted to pole position for mine. A fanatical Demon supporter growing up, drafted from the rookie list and now having a break out year when we’ve made finals.

I wish I was James Harmes because this kid is living the dream.

100% Oliver. People think I'm nuts the way I talk about him. I will rewind it when he does something incredible in tight and make everyone watch.

And my wife picked Nev out even before he was delisted and rookied, so she loves reminding me of it everytime he does something well.

My son loves Jonesy, and my daughter loves "Pig".

I have a bit of a connection with James Harmes. Played against his Dad many years ago, and James grew up playing with my nephews. They are all still good mates. I have been rapt to see his improvement from a fringe player to a key part of the Demons set up.

Maxy.

And drunk posting never ends well usually.

This is tough. So hard to elevate one player ahead of what is an awesome group. I wear Petracca's no. right now and Clarry would be very close. I think I gotta go with Harmes. He's quickly becoming a heart and soul guy of the club.

Jetta. Met him the year he got drafted and my wife and I had a chat with him, great fella.

The way he plays is exactly what is expected and that mark he took on Rioli against the eagles was a defining moment.

love that jetta (in particular) is getting so much love.. so cool that anyone could say any current player now and it could be accepted and acknowledged as legitimate. bit different to a few years ago!

Love em all

Tmac for me - embodies the notion that hard work pays off. He sets a great example on and off the field for the group.

Apologies to Harmes, Clarry, Gawn and Nev

This thread demonstrates why we’re on our way to a flag. Love it.

Despite my username, I’ve just gotta go with Maxy on this one. He’s a collossus and loves the club. When he was asked on a footy show of his thoughts when he sees kids wearing our jumper with his number on it, he said “it’s great that they remember Jimmy”

He is all class and talent. Deserved AA ruckman.

For a very welcome change, this is an enormously difficult call.

For me though I find Clarrie absolutely magical: THE quickest thinker and THE best vision I can recall at any time from any player from any team.

Takes the breath away some of the ridiculous stuff he pulls off.

But it is unfair to the likes of Max, Nev, Angus, and Jonesy for his perseverance .... and many more.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
