Cats have had a good run!!  freo and suns at home ... really !!

Nope its purfect....2 soft games at home in a row, followed by a break. They wont know what hit them when they play us at the G!

Dwayne is the worst commentator. Ever.

Geelong, front runners extraordinaire!

Looks like the Tigers are playing 'Injury-Free' football!

Crows did the same in rnd 23 last year and went into GF with only 2 decent workouts in over a month.  And they played like it in the GF.

The 'Injury-Free' attitude might come back and bite the Tigers.

I didn't think Geelong would get close to our percentage.  I was wrong.

Right now Geelong's percentage is 129.3 (ours 129.8) with a half to go.

Does the AFL hire police for matches? They're even waiting outside the coaches box to escort the coaches to the ground!

Didn't realise you could hire out a copper.

Now at 130.

GC might as we’ll start their holidays now.

Geelong are the only team in the AFL with an actual home ground advantage.

No wonder they make the finals every year.

Geelong really don't have much to gain from boosting their %.  They can only end at 7th or 8th.

While there are many finals combos their most probable scenarios:

1) We win, they play us at the G.

2) We lose, they travel to Sydney to face GWS/Swans or play Hawks at the G.

It looks like they are playing hard to avoid facing us in the 1st final :D

Not sure about that - The G as Home ground certainly helps Tigers, Pies and Hawks.  Hopefully, next year it will become our fortress as well.

If they finish 7th LH they wouldnt play us if we won and finish 5th?? No??

That's true, thanks.

It looks like no matter what we do their most likely scenarios have them travelling to Sydney to face GWS/Swans or play Hawks at the G. Is that right?

So they are building % to avoid playing us whether we win or lose? :D

I think its the hope that if we win we go to 5th and they get pushed down to 8th.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
