Uhmmmm, i think i cracked a couple of my son's ribs giving him a hug.....he seems ok with it.....

Shows how important Melksham is to this side.

Hibbered good, Hannan great,Weed 100% holds his spot, did some really good things.

Hooray for finals!!!

Only question is who comes in for Spargo?

It might sound silly but I thought West Coast hitting the front as ‘early’ as they did was helpful. It refocused and galvanised us. So incredibly proud of all of the players. A fantastic effort over there.

Shout out to the recruiting staff. What did we give up for Hibberd & Melksham? Where were Tom McDonald,  Hannan, Harmes, Jetta and Fritsch drafted?

What a day. Let’s all get to the G next week and bring back a home final.

Me too, we were looking to save our lead, I thought that would end in tears, we play better attacking and just prayed we could do it.

Given the number of outs we had and that it was interstate against a top rated side, was that our best win for the year so far??  I realise WC had plenty out as well but....

He wasted a lot of opportunities and he needs to actually go for marks instead of pushing his opponent under the ball, but he is far more dynamic and offers more than Hogan has in recent weeks.

We got a good run from the Umpires I thought considering it was over there.

Yeah I thought the maggots were very 'accomodating' today, surprisingly.

Still a few dodgy calls/non calls, but far few that I expected given what was at stake.

We did really well to keep the crowd quiet for most of the game.

Shout out to Harmes who has really stepped it up lately.

Still can't believe the resurrection of Gus, it's beautiful.

So gutsy, CARN DEES.

JKH would be the only alternative... not sure he adds alot more to justify the switch though.  Spargo showed patches of some solid play during the 3rd i thought and appears to be slowly learning a little more each week.  Not quick but work rate is up there also.

i knew Melksham was a huge part of that Forward Line.

The Weid, does he play next week?

Playing for a home final next weekend, huge stakes now

You Beauty.

Milkshake is one of our most important players.

How are you feeling anyway mate? The boys did what you have been yelling for years :)

I reckon Gus threw away the helmet in the last....now or never stuff...unreal

Harmes has filled the Viney void.

Hats off to Chompers!!

Can we all make a pact not to ever be a bunch of flogs like the West Coast fans?

Let's save our booing for when we are actually getting dusted up by the umps.

Got caught out having to come on without being able to put it on. Order was restored after a minute of play

Well done Dees..... flying back to Oz next week and will be coming to the MCG to watch the GWS game with my fellow Dees supporters.

Let's go into this final series with momentum and belief.

Go Dees

Umpires good, coaches played no funny buggers and as much as I’m critical of the old guys, they stood up in the last 10mims and had too. Great club effort all round

Yes we have to lose by 150 points and port to win by 100

Actually the difference is 357 points - so the odds are incredibly long!

They are the absolute worst.  They boo absolutely anything.

Id like a few on DL to stop constantly bagging players every 5 mins.....its really pathetic at times

Can't agree more, I haven't heard a bigger batch of whiners. We got some lucky ones, they got some lucky ones, I would say (for once) it was actually a very evenly umpired game.

They're never happy unless they've got 15 more free kicks than the traveling teams.

If Freo beat the filth and Sydney and Hawthorn don't draw (so one of them stays on 14 wins), then our percentage would see us slide into 4th.

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

  • PREGAME: Brisbane

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
