A lot to like about Sam Frost .. Not just today but, in his continued development as a very very good tall running Key defensive back.

I thought his very very good today vs Buddy and I believe he will team well with Jake Lever next year to provide running rebound from the backline

I hope coaches see this and nurture and encourage. A very positive in the games he has played. Yep knows he needs to work on his game, but Big Tall running athletic defenders are hard to find!

Bravo young man!  Believe!

Buddy could've kicked 7 if his radar was on. Frost had a good go and his kicking is better, marking more reliable and all round he's made improvements but I'm still yet to be convinced. Once Buddy stopped leading in straight lines and started putting some moves before short hit up leads he had Frost cold.

I'm very keen to see a backline with Lever, Hibberd and Joel Smith, maybe a fully fit Hunt after a solid preseason and ideally find a replacement skilled flanker to take over from Lewis. That's the kind of support that would make life easier on the tall or talls. Whether Frost is a good fit in that or not I'm yet to know.

Frost has more upside than Joel Smith IMV!

Hunt has pace and not much more!

What I do know for absolute certain is that we’d already be qualified for finals if those morons had selected Frost instead of Petty against St Kilda.

Must be said that there were also plenty of morons on Demonland that posted Petty instead of Frost.

Just laughable.

Frosty was our best back today by a long shot.  Liked it in the first quarter when he was prepared to back himself, run off his (overrated) man and lay a hard tackle of the Swans player who was charging tawards goal on the boundary.  Cops more than his fair share does Frosty.  He didn't shank a kick today, but Jessy, Tommy and half a dozen forwards certainly did and cost us the game.

I thought Oscar was also ok today, but infortunately, Hunt was practically dead wood.  Nother sure that Bailey was a winner down back today either, compared to what he might have provided up forward.

Yes the matchup of Petty and Omcd v Membrey and Mccartin was laughable

petty was nowhere near ready

Goody had praising words about Frosty in the presser, which I appreciated because I also felt like he wasn't valued as much as he should have been this year.

Loved it when Frosty beat Buddy in the 1 on 1 in the 3rd and then burned him off to the roar of the MCC.

I had high hopes for you today Frosty and you exceeded them.

Both Smith and Frost can play in the same side.

Hunt is finished. Worst kick in our side.

Could never understand why he wasn't in the team when Lever was on the park, have always been a staunch Frost follower.

His kicking and decision making has come on leaps and bounds, his pace and breaking of the lines is Elite.

Goody and his Goons [censored] up royally when they refused to pick him at the start of the year, they've stumbled into this.

Only part of the game i loved, burned him off big time starting from behind.

Frost tried manfully, we lucked out buddy didn’t kick well. 100% if same game had of been OMac everyone would have lambasted his effort allowing Buddy to have so many shots on goals.

I am disappointed that we were beaten today however the positive out of this game was the improvement that Frosty has made over the time he was given his chance and strung  several games together which have been more than serviceable. He held his own against Buddy and outsprinted him to win his own ball and also took the game on at will.  Why Goody played J Smith and Petty in front of Frosty against St Kilda? The mind Boggles. Two lesser bodies at the time not up to it, 8 games between them and the Saints beat us by 2 points.  Goody got it wrong at selection.  That hurts.

Strong game by Frosty. He's a gun!

Sounding like you’re one of the Frost bashers who is giving faint praise through gritted teeth.

At least you are giving faint praise as there are many Frost bashers that have been decidedly quiet the last few weeks.

I think Frost has been very good, since coming up from the VFL. I initially thought we couldn’t feature a backline with 3 talls. But I think he could successfully play in the backline with Lever and OMac next year.

He offers a significant point of difference and is much improved at picking the time to leave his player. Franklin playing up the ground suited Frost but he also played a much less attacking role this week.

I'm definitely one of the Frost bashers but all credit to him.

He's played some good footy since coming back in.

Let's hope he keeps on the improve as we need his leg speed big time.

Although I'm still not convinced he is our long term answer...

He was given absolutely no support from the midfield yesterday, giving their midfield plenty of time for a stabbed pass in to Buddy on the lead where no-one would be able to stop it.

I'm astounded as to how he gets kept out of the team by O'mac and others.

He has the attributes to be the best CHB in the comp.

Coaches have stalled his development.

As many have pointed out-Goodwin stuffs up selection on a regular basis.

Frost needed to be played and wasn’t

it cost us earlier in the year

Frost caught Franklin at least 5 times with a chase. He has the size and pace

This is exactly right, had OMac played the same game on Buddy all on here would have been calling for him to be dropped. Frost did ok, but really the only reason he's getting any praise is because Buddy kicked 2.5, it could have easily been 5.2 and he toyed with him on occasion.

I'm not a Frost hater at all, and think he's very much in the team at least until Lever is right, but surely you don't start a thread for a guy who got outplayed? We lost the game because of the mid pressure when the swans went forward and because we couldn't kick straight, the defenders overall we're reasonable, but they weren't world beater either.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
