An aside... Liverpool played Man U yesterday in a pre season friendly in Michigan.Crowd of 105k at a sold out stadium.

Man U played the kids.

Amazing what people will pay to see these teams play.

Another aside... apparently Mexico plays more times in the USA than in Mexico itself because they make so much more money than when they play in Mexico

Wow 105k for a friendly

amazing

I think it was the stadium used by the University of Michigan. Also blows your mind how big College football is as well.

My rationale for being happy about the North win is that, given percentage difference, any team on 10 wins at the end of this round would need to win all 4 of their remaining games, while we only win 2, in order for them to pass us. And I'm confident we will manage at least 2.

North are respectable and the win over West Coast adds some credibility to their claim to play finals, for sure, but I don't think they'll win all 4 remaining games. None are against top teams, but also, even the Lions and Saints have shown they have a bit of fight in them.

West Coast, on the other hand, are beginning to look just a little shaky and I'd love for that to continue. Ok, they are on 13 wins. But that is 10-1 for the first half of the season, and since then they are 3-4. Funnily enough, the maths for us passing them are the same as the maths for North passing us. Considering all possibilities, it would just fit the OFFICIALLY EPIC finish to the season if our rnd 22 game agaisnt them carried the prospect of jumping them on the ladder.

Overall, I just want to enjoy the ride of every single game for the rest of the season having both the threat of dropping out of the 8, and the opportunity of climbing into the top 4.

Madness? Definitely, but at least I'm having fun!

Channel 7 have the wrong game again. On Fox, 6 goals in 6 minutes at Hawks and Freo.

Oh of course, no problem W....im not from Ballarat anyway, im from StKilda. I just live here atm. These matches are good for the town tho.

Langdon gets it a bit but he continues to be an untidy player. Reminds me of Harmes in his first few years.

Gee it would take something pretty special from here.

its only a few goals....still most of last q left....still, very low scoring game i guess

Just saw that Port have a diabolical run home. Arguably worse than ours.

Hope those Crows can play for the honour of their jumper etc and do the right thing in the Derby next week.

Looks like their game in outer space will be a win.

If we win the games we should we'll finish from 3 to 5 depending on others results.  Port can possibly just miss out after their run.

jamie eliott pinged a hammy in the vfl again

Geez maybe he should give it up, can’t take a trick, surely these injuries start taking there toll at some point they have done well to be sitting top 4

Bummer was hoping the one strange upset a weekend we've been getting lately would continue. Unless Freo play out of their skin the Hawks should just control the pace of the game and seal this one. They're experienced and wont get embarrassed again like the Brisband game

Have only been flipping channels while cooking but when I did it seemed like Langdon turned it over by foot badly? Was it Langdon or someone else, anyone noticed?

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • PREGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne

After four weeks on the road the Demons make their long awaited return to the MCG next Sunday to play in a classic late season dead rubber against the North Melbourne Kangaroos. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
