Further to this:

"We'll have a look at our grounds, we'll have a look at our loads, we'll have a look at all those things that potentially go into those things."

Goodwin had some padding around that comment to soften the blow, but he's clearly talking about NT.

Of course he is, he knows the root of the problem. Give him a map of Australia and he'll point out the problem to you.

So he’s definitely talking about Marrara Oval, where we spend 4 hours s year, and there’s absolutely no chance he’s talking about our training ground, where our players spend a dozen hours a week, which was recently described by a Demonland member as being rock hard?

I’ll never understand why people choose the conspiracy theory over the simple and logical conclusion.

Shows the importance of winning games you should (STK) and taking your chances (Geel, Port). Disappointing but we shall see, every side in the 8 or competing are having similar injury woes, it’s quite bizarre except for Richmond

Geelong fairly light on for injuries now. A couple of hff’s. Henderson back and Taylor could be ok.

I had Taylor and Menzel. Menzel is not 100% and may be a late out if what I'm hearing could come true.

both mate both, do they even do ground pressure testing throughout the year? You'd think it would be weekly wouldnt you.

Menzel out would be massive.

Takes the pressure off with Hibberd out. See how it plays out, may be just a rumour.

Viney and Hibberd both out shortly after Darwin trip.

Lever injured shortly after Alice.

You simply can't ignore that. Conditioning and fatigue has an affect on the body, you become unintentionally lazy and your body and mind cut corners to battle the physical and mental fatigue.

Get rid of these damn games.

Sacking Norm Smith is more likely the cause.

I hope they return Bernie to a run with role. Either Danger or Selwood with Bernie in their back pocket all day. He did get under the skin of a few last year. I still like Wagner in for Hibberd despite misgivings he may not have Hibberds skill but he knows the role he has to play and causes minimal disruption. 2 years ago the Dogs ket replacing their gun payers with role players who performed their job and got them to a G.F.

This is as much about replacing like with like in a role and team structure and game plan. Sydney do it better than anyone. Someone gets injured and the replacement may not star but know and fill their role. Hanneberry, Jack, McVeigh & Grundy all missed last week but who would know. They stuck to their game plan and the ins played their role.

He hasn't had any reason to try it before. Outside of Lever going down, our back six has been relatively settled otherwise.

Plus I doubt he will take too many risks, such as playing someone in a position they haven't played in before, at this stage of the season.

I meant moreso with his obsession with versatility within the team.

"

Meanwhile, AFL umpire Troy Pannell was on hand for match simulation on Wednesday, part of the Cats' education process.

"We try to get an umpire down as often as possible," Scott said.

"We're in the fortunate position that Troy's been available to come down given he umpired our game last week, he's got some insights that would be fresh in his mind."

Good to see Scotty keeping in with the umps!

maybe show Troy some of your theatrics in the box when he makes a call against your team?

Oh great.

Nothing is surer than the Cats getting an armchair ride form the umps Saturday night, and nothing will be done about it just like West Coast being looked after every week.

If anything, if the umpiring is unfair he is prima facie evidence something is amiss

If the MFC doesn't arc up over this, then heads must roll

Pannell was busted in a cafe with someone from the Cats according to Scott’s presser.

We’ve had umpires down to training before as well guys. It’s common, not the sign of a conspiracy.

YIKES IT’S A SHADOW!!!

Which umpires? First I’ve heard of it

Although Pig 13th in Demonland votes, this is a massive misrepresentation of how crucial he is. DANG.

I wonder if it’s a chance to trial Jonesy

Doesn't have the initial speed or play quite tall enough IMHO (depending on potential opponent/s).  Disposal pretty ordinary atm also.

Melk and/or Harmes for mine with Jones to Menzel.

ANB/Fritschkrieg/JKH & Hannan rotate through wings & HF

If that is a true account then something is definitely NQR within the AFL system.

If the AFL is handing out "umpire advice & insights" then the same advice and messages /demonstrations should be granted to every club through the week in a systematic fashion or nothing given at all.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
