The majority of you are completely misrepresenting what Carey said.

He said basically that:

- draft picks are no good for Carlton. They have had plenty of no 1 picks and they are still where they are. And when Murphy, Kruezer and others retire these draft picks will be thrown to the wolves.

- They would be better trading the pick 1 for a bunch of ready made players that can have an immediate impact and protect the likes of Curnow, McKay, etc

He used an example of Melbourne which perhaps wasn't the best saying Tyson, Frost and Bugg weren't getting games and could be a potential swap but other than that it's a completely logical solution to their mess if any club would do it.

Yep, that is what he said, I personally don't like the bloke but he is allowed to have an opinion I have heard a lot worse than this.

You and your calm, accurate recollection of events. I want the crazy pipe dream of getting pick 1 for three players. ?

I have always liked Carey  ?

Do it now please!! number 1 pick and lose no one from the first 22!

Are you somebody’s wife?

On talking footy Wayne Carey came up with a solution for Carlton No1 pick.

Trade it for Frost, Tyson and Bugg (all ex GWS we all know SOS loves GWS)

Is he out of his mind? or are in with a shot of getting Walsh?

Imagine Gaff and Walsh on  our wings. (It's got my tent up)

Thoughts?

No. no he's not.

I think, 'if you think about it', he's talking about trading the number 1 pick,,, just like we did under Roosy.

So trading down the First 2018 Draft pick, on a number of picks above P25.

Then trade some of these picks for some maturity.

In a topline draft, I would prefer 5 top 30 picks,,,,, than one pick in the top 5.

Wayne also rates Grundy ahead of Gawn, and said to Lingy ,who is on the all Australian committee, that Grundy should be a certainty for all Australian Ruckman.

So do I.

Grundy is better around the ground consistently, than Maxy.

Maxy needs to improve around the ground, particularly taking marks in big numbers.

Carlton aren’t tanking for Frost, Bugg and Tyson.

exactly... they do not mind hanging coaches out to dry, over at the Old Prince's Park_

....  whilst they put young guns into hibernation.

Controlling their ladder position,,,  and the public perception of they're list's condition.

They need an NJones type, a Roughhead type, a Zac Jones type. etc.

Tyson, Bugg and Frost for pick 1 .  LOL.

Carlton fans would burn down Princes Park.

Have to agree to disagree there .

The position is “Ruckman” and Max has more hit outs and more hit outs to advantage.

He also marks very well around the ground and is more of a forward option than Grundy. Covers just as much ground.

Many scribes have him not only as the best Ruckman but all The coaches rate him , currently leading the coaches votes and is a Brownlow favorite, being top three of most media awards.

something to look forward to......

Regardless of what Carey said we need to get back in the draft somehow. Package some fringe players up to a Gold Coast and get back in.

Anything short of 8 marks for a player like him is unders.

He's improved marginally, at taking marks inside F50.  He is capable of SO much more than that.

Its time we stopped allowing ruckmen to NOT take marks in numbers.  Has to change.

Would you? It stands as a terrible deal for both teams. The team that finished last brings in three start-up top 22 players that won't make them much better, and lose a top 1 pick.

Melbourne lose experience and depth for an unproven kid.

What makes you think we would take a kid with the number one pick rather than use it to trade in some speed and clean ball skills to the list?

Gold Coast would be frothing over a deal like this.. We wouldn’t be happy, I don’t know why posters think other clubs would be. Gold Coasts’ issues stem from a lack of leadership and top end talent, they don’t need more fringe players.

They need players if there stupid enough to except well thats their problem. Worth asking the question tho....

What if we added Stretch and Hunt to the Tyson, Frost and Bugg deal?

Would that get them interested?

Rubbish I'd rather win an AFL premiership than VFL premiership. Walsh will make it he's a gun. In our best 22 easily.

Not even Stephen Silvagni  (who  is probably the wort list manager in the AFL) would give up Pick 1 unless he got back a Hogan or Petracca.

Im pretty sure it would ,but not for me although I get where you’re coming from.

We just saw Stretch and Frost plays decent games after having to wait along time for their opportunity.

We’ve also seen Tyson and Bugg produce for us over time.

Proposed action would  the heart out of our young group and we owe Carlton zero.

Maybe a couple on our list to the Suns might work. They need leadership , experience and direction.

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
