Is Big Tom just blowing hard after some runs..if so...why ?  he's normally an endurance king

OR

Is he struggling with his  "niggle" ?

Struggling with slight "niggle". It was apparent during the recovery period. He looked suprised by his shortness of breath after the timed run. A bit like, Gee I am injured! His body also "glowed" with a pink hue. There was pollution and mist around the Park, (no wind to blow the particle matter away from the city) which wouldn't have helped his oxygen levels. However, I believe he will be OK to play.

You really do need to speak to the players like myself and @Earl Hood

Tommy is fine, no niggle or pain whatsoever, but the decision to play is not his, due for another run on Saturday

He also had a good look at his GPS data before he left and seemed very satisfied with it

I prefer not to talk to them unless they are open to forming a genuine friendship. Already plenty of sycophants around. I am just writing what I observe. He trained well, other than that recovery period. Did you see him turn pink?

Don’t get sucked in by his trolling Kev. Your reports are bang on and really appreciated.

No need for your first sentence.

We like information not one upmanship.

Indeed, thanks are in order, as Kevin's reports have been fantastic.

All those reporting on training should be valued for their contribution.

I chat to Brendan McCartney. He is closer to my demographic. I see him enjoying walks in the botanical garden when he is not at work.

Saty “ On Track” as per usual with his antics.

Totally unnecessary telling a poster he should talk to the players. People give up their spare time to report observations from training  to passionate Demons and get garbage thrown at them out of spite it seems.

Last week's shirt front last week really knocked him around, immediately coughed up blood and had bruised lungs.  I would imagine that limits lung capacity a bit so his endurance may not be up to his normal lofty heights.  It sounds like he is medically fit to play but any sort of knock could really do damage.

He has a long flight to Darwin on Thursday or Friday and Freo worries me more than StK.  So if there is any doubt on Tom's lungs (capacity or bruising) I would err on the side of caution and rest him this week.

Thanks for the support. Satry's alright for me. I can enjoy his contrary views. Gives me a laugh. He is probably just finding his feet on how to socialise. We all learn something with our interactions.

Hopefully not with binoculars from in the trees

You're training reports are by far the best, no one comes close, keep up the good work.

Didn't know those 2 players were in the team.  What numbers do they wear?

How can an observation be misinformed? It could be misinterpreted.

It can't of course.

I listened to the Hibberd sen interview (thanks DL) and Hibbo said that TMac had a bruised lung. I'll say that again. A bruised lung - which is no surprise given he was coughing up blood straight after the incident.

Your observations of him struggling for breath are entirely consistent with having a bruised lung. Hibbo said that the chance of a similar injury were low so that's in TMac's favor but the vibe was he is no certainly to play. Which is also unsurprising given he has a bruised lung.

Based on the overwhelming evidence of this photo and second-hand reports of a grumpy media interview earlier this week I feel confident in making an expert diagnosis that Tomald is exhibiting symptoms of aggression and disinhibition due to a case of traumatic brain injury (TBI) he has incurred from his hit against Port. The mist that kevin martin spoke of at training was clearly a red mist of anger radiating off of Tom and settling as a fine dust on his glowing pink face. I'm looking forward to seeing how this possible permanent brain damage and uncontrollable rage and might translate on the field against the Saints. A lot of potential upside.

Rehab, fitness test group had Tom Mcdonald and Dom Tyson in it. Dom Joined the main group after 3/4 of an hour. Tom remained in rehab. He looked to be moving well with good skills on display with Daniel Cross and Dom. At the end he was tested with some 400 meters. He appeared to be running out of steam by the end. His endurance seems compromised at the moment. Jayden Hunt was walking laps.
The general atmosphere was full of intensity with plenty of noise from both players and coaches. All seemed to have purpose. The emphasis appeared to be about quick hands, locking the ball down and finding targets over the back of the pack.
The talls and smalls separated, with the talls doing marking practice and the smalls tackling each other (showing strength, power and endurance).
Close to the end of training the Casey team went off to kick goals while the AFL team did match simulations.
Aaron vandenBerg and Pat Mckenna training well and stayed with the AFL team. So they are unlikely to get a game in the seconds yet. In the AFL squad team was Cam Pederson, Harry Petty and Sam Weideman.

So Pedersen is emergency and Vince plays in the VFL. When was the last time Vince has played in the VFL? His career is almost over unfortunately for old Vince.

He needs 4 games to reach 100 for the MFC.

Will he get there... ?

How would your 'friendship' with TMac progress in your mind if he told you to feck off and kicked you square in the plums? I assume you would make him a beneficiary in your will if that were to happen.

It's got to be doubtful it's a hard team to break into.

i reckon he should be managed and rested from the vfl this week. a freshening up would do him good at his age

Kev, your reports are the best I have read on Land. Please keep up the good work and ignore the trash talkers

It's not friendship, I talk to him at functions and training, like a lot of the other players, spoke to at least six on Thursday, of course it was about the World Cup with Christian Salem

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
