Pederson hit high, tripped, got rid of the ball, pinged holding the ball.  Worst umpiring decision I've seen in a very long time.

Copped three bad ones in the last quarter. Terrible umpiring.

Without Frost and Vince we would have been beaten badly. Great effort from both.

Keilty impressive down back, showed plenty of composure.

Tim Smith worked hard all day, great game from him.

Baker, Vince good also.

Jeffy, better...

Loved the Bernie interview post match. However long it takes, he will be banging the door down to get back in the team. He’s not giving up just yet.

You obviously didn’t see Melksham last week

Baker has the worst haircut in the VFL

His girlfriend may be his hairdresser. She appears to be wearing a Pies scarf in the Instagram pic.

I have pushed that game out of my memory.

Really liked the games of Baker, Stretch, Vince, Smith and Kielty.  Lots at the next level, Frost good amongst them.  DJ goes hard.  Not much of JKH or Bugg today.  Need more from Balic.  Garlett not on form today - not sure if it was because it didn’t go right for him, or he just didn’t go enough? Kent was way off the pace, but probably better for the run.

Baker was terrific! Good size too. Could certainly see him on a wing in the AFL side

Twice in the last Kent had the chance to seal the game one did not make the distance and the other was almost out on the full. Poor kicking from a senior player.

I think Dom Tyson will be looking over his shoulder.

Every week I watch Casey we get slaughter in the ruck the opposition get first use of the ball. King must be the worse ruckman going around in the vfl. Today is no exception. God helps if we ever to use him in the seniors.

king has no afl attributes, young but no potential

Umps gave them 3 goals

Nick hind from essendon is certainly worth a look in at the draft, might be a good  fit as an outside runner that we so desperately need and bog imo

Reckon Baker and Stretch must be given a go very soon, Stretch has become a lot tougher

Good hard fought win

STRETCH - Prolific but done nothing to suggest he can take the next step

KENT - Poor really rusty.

FROST - Really good game.

PEDERSEN - Serviceable game, took a few good marks.

VINCE - Fantastic game, too good for VFL level.

KENNEDY HARRIS - No real impact.

BALIC - In and out of the game.

BUGG - No real impact as well.

BAKER - BOG must be close to AFL selection.

KING - Still developing took a nice mark and kicked a nice goal.

GARLETT - Poor really struggling at VFL level.

JOHNSTONE - Done some good things developing nicely as a backman.

T.SMITH - Started like a house on fire, but died out of the game late.

KEILTY - Mr. Dependable the best backman on the ground.

FILIPOVIC - No real impact.

A bit hard on Billy methinks. Otherwise spot on. Probably Keilty’s best game.

Me thinks too, Billy played bloody well, should and will be given a go in the ones very soon

bakers footskills are poor and very loopy, had a solid game but frost Vince and keilty were all better

Can’t see Vince back unless he swaps with Lewis. Thought Keilty was excellent and Frost good, stretch first half very good but little impact on second half. Baker covers the ground well and wins the ball well but doesn’t do much with it yet. I think the rest are nothing more than back ups to our best 22.

I watch Casey each week. Unless there are a lot of injuries Gartlett is finished. JKH was consistently beaten one on one all day.

On the bright side Baker gets better each week. Spoke to him at Willy and he spoke a lot of sense.

Also I have been harsh on Frost but the last two weeks has been very good. Dion is also improving

Lets hope nothing happens to Gawn because Casey ruchmen are three years away.

Could flatten his kicks out a bit; has a tendancy to up and unders

Second week in a row Billy has had a hard tag in the second half. I'm not sure it's something he'd have to cope with at AFL level.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons have the Bye next week but then are on the road once again when they come up against the Gold Coast Suns on the Gold Coast in what could be a last ditch effort to salvage their season. Who comes in and who comes out?

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
