The main point of my post is that at pick 4 you should be able to pick a player not a dud.

The year before GWS selected Will Hoskin-Elliott at Pick 4 and ended up trading him away for not much more then we got in our Toumpas trade. There's no certainty in drafting.

Plus what we got in the Toumpas/Howe trade went towards our trade for the Oliver pick. So thank god we drafted Toumpas!?

he gives away frees all the time. a couple of times last night he was penalised for holding. also how angry does he get when things don't go his way? Id hate to see how he was as a kid when his parents said no to him.

When you have god on your side, it is natural to assume that an umpire who awards a free against you is a pawn of Satan.

As for his dive last night, I think it was there, just not as blatant as last week.  Though why dives are considered fine-worthy but head ducking (which is dangerous) is not, is beyond my comprehension.

Softens? Oliver is far superior to Wines.

Anyway melbourne please win because 2nd spot would look good.

They might have never said no to him...strikes me as that type of kid.

I was so surprised when I found out he had a wife and kids...

So was Bruce. Is there nothing ch7 cannot do? (Other than football commentary)

Big game...  both teams 7-4 and the loser will be on the edge of the 8.

Really its just a case of who you hate worst as to who you want to lose.... at least one of them will be in the 8 at seasons end, and its hard to see Geelong not making it.  So I wouldn't mind seeing North lose today and begin their slide down the ladder.

 I hate them both equally.

Good response. Thank you.

But that’s the point, I don’t think he was the right pick at the time . I recall he was injured when we drafted him and he never showed anything over here.  He was rather short and dumpy and was supposed to be an outside mid but was slow. His skills were poor also. I think whether or not we got Ollie he was a poor pick.

The main point of my post is that at pick 4 you should be able to pick a player not a dud.

In hindsight not the right pick, but I think consensus within industry was that he was the "right" pick. Same with Cale Morton.

Contrast these to Luke Molan (yes very unlucky once drafted but was never expected to be a top 10 player: read here for some of his bad luck http://websites.sportstg.com/assoc_page.cgi?c=1-25-0-0-0&sID=56257&articleID=7430876&news_task=DETAIL) or Nick Smith (the original 426, won played his 4th and last game in our last final, but who more relevantly was picked higher than expected ahead of some more credentialed forwards).

Yep we got it wrong and could have been braver (like we were with Oliver), but mistakes like Toumpas and Watts are difficult to avoid based on exposed juniors form.

Just got told by someone close with GWS That Tom lynch toured facilities there this morning, that’s interesting they would need to drop a player to get lynch maybe Patton might end up on the table

it’s so irksome!!

Geelong is the team i wish would just go away. Every year i think nope, .....but, like a dog at a rubbish bin, now theyve won 4 in a row. Top 4 now.

0 goals for Ben Brown,   0 goals for Josh Caddy,  Darling  0 the last 2 weeks and out injured.

Jesse is well and truly in the frame to win the Coleman.

I wasnt disagreeing with you, i was just pointing out how Geelong just wont go away either.

Scrappy first quarter at the spiritual home of footy, Spotless Stadium.

Both teams look overwhelmed by the big stage and the rich history of their clashes.

Game should pick up if they’re anything like the epic clashes of yesteryear.

Dunno about that. He's not that good at one on one. Reckon they would have given him a spanking.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
