What an absolute warrior. He'll go down as one of the greats of this footy club... No'one would have blamed him had he walked out before Roosy came on board. I'm so wrapt for him that he has started to be apart of some success that he so rightly deserves, I've watched him closely the last few weeks & the enjoyment he's having it nearly brings a tear to the eye. I absolutely love the bloke.

I dont get to the footy much as i live overseas, but i was lucky to see his first game v the doggies. 

 

Saw a  nuggerty young bloke who played hard for every contest. Not much has changed except a few less folices and a few more tatts.

I wonder if a little clean-out late last season, has had a positive effect on our players. All players now go in when its they're turn to go and all players pressure chase and contest all times.

A big change from previous seasons in terms of the numbers doing this.

Jones, Viney, Harmes & Kent (when he was on and on the park) probably the few that were doing a bit of it in previous seasons.

A great of the club and pretty much the on field glue over the last decade, who deserves some serious success.  Must be enjoying his footy big time right now. 

A true Demon who has always lead by example over so many years.

When i think of this club becoming mighty once more, at the forefront of that is the essence, effort and professionalism that is the Jones boy.

Nathan Jones is a champion.

He has endured a lot of pain and suffering while the Demons were hopeless in seasons past. He used to be our "shining light" in a team that was regularly getting thrashed. He could have gone to another AFL club to seek success but he stayed loyal to the Demons.

He is an inspirational player and Captain.

Nathan Jones deserves success!

Congratulations on 250 games Nathan!

I hope to see you play 100 more games and a few Premierships!

Certainly would love to see Nathan Jones play well over 300 games and surpass David Neitz's record of 306 games for the Melbourne Football Club.

Let's hope the Demons smash the Bulldogs this weekend in tribute to Nathan Jones playing his 250th game!

We need to get up for him, it could be the last major milestone game he plays (hoping he makes 300 but it's a hard task in modern footy)

His 200th was a 50 point mauling at the hands of freo and he did his ankle. It's only right he gets to enjoy this with a win.

Thanks Drunkn.  This is an exceptional interview with an outstanding young man and leader of our football club.  I'm almost in tears, and in awe of what might be possible with Jonesy at the helm.  Brilliant stuff!

Enjoyed hearing him speak yesterday and watching the news last night seeing him on there. Its great at the moment he is loving his footy. He probably thought this enjoyment may not happen after those dark days. 

But what I enjoyed hearing was over the summer he took angus under his wing to make him a better trainer and player. That is just great leadership and who wants to see a talented youngster fulfill his potential. 

I really hope they win on saturday and he can be chaired off as a winner. 

I just viewed his interview/press thingy and I have to admit he has matured into an absolute champion of this Club. When he first started he was all heart and many times a two-grab player. We can see the skill development over his time so that now he is not only a contested ball winner, but now plays the BIG moment very well albeit through  a super contest or a "captain's" goal.

Not only has he developed from an inward looking approach to his leadership, but now openly embraces the development in the club as a whole. He has been shaped or rather shaped himself into a real leader who is now looking around his group very positively.

He has demonstrated tremendous loyalty to MFC and has invested a lot of himself in it.

We have been lucky to have and must congratulate him on not only his career but the way he has gone about it.  Well done !!

Reflections and tributes by two of his coaches:  Yeats and Roos.   There is an interesting commentary from Roos on how he 'adjusted' Jones' attitude from 'individual' to 'team. 

Should anyone doubt Jones' role in where we are today - “He was just pivotal in keeping the club together and just his signature means a hell of a lot,” Roos says.

Excellent article.  I like the way it explains the evolution of Jonesy's kicking from the (old) just ' bomb it forward' approach, to what we see today.  It's been a remarkable transformation really, and a huge credit to Jonesy.

He is the beating heart of the Melbourne Football Club.  Love the guy.  Rough nut surfer and skater who grew into leadership and fatherhood. 

Feeling nostalgic today and thinking about Jimmy and Robbie and how much they would be enjoying the club right now.
