Today’s games have highlighted to me how optimistic we should be about our list and our future. We have talent on every line, it’s now a mental game.

The Doggies have regressed badly in the space of the last 20 months. It’s one of the worst falls from grace we’ve seen in years.

Bevo is rebuilding again, after their season from hell.

At least they got that flag,  breaking the drought.  but it came at a cost.

and this is the danger period.

Thinking we are better then we really are.

"getting ahead"  is not all its cracked out to be.

Its often a negative thing.

My opinion doesn’t influence the players. I’m just stating we have the talent on each line to be successful, especially when you compare the opposition. At this time and stage it’s mental.

Surely the market gardener paid out big time with the former coach !

Said he was going chainsawring with his new found wealth !

Some people are never satisfied !

????????????, west coast demon GF no  doubt

Wow, Essendon have done us a favor the last two weeks beating two of our competitors.   Cant believe they beat Geelong and GWS on the road.

The GWS experiment is looking like a failure, same with Gold Coast.  The Demetriou legacy.  Blew his chance to bring in a Tasmania team and instead created two fake plastic franchises with no substance.

Giants a marketing nightmare for AFL.

Quite obviously GW$$$$ and Carlton need to share the first ten picks this draft.

GWS in particular are heartless and soulless as a football club.  You would have to think that effects the psyche of their players.  I mean, when a club that was winning and winning well can not attract more people to it's home games than the MFC in the dark days, as a GWS player you would have to think why bother, no one except Gill and his overpaid mates cares.  How much longer are the AFL and the 17 other genuine teams going to go on supporting this sporting pariah that's draining the funds and spirit of the competition.

Carlton also did us a favour by denying Geelong a huge percentage boost.  Vs Carlton, ours went up by 14% last week but Geelong's went up by just 3% last night.

Could be very important for the final ladder positions.

Have you factored in how many people aren’t watching on TV???

The very choice of the name "Giants" gave away that this was an imitation club designed by committee with no fans or grass roots involvement allowed in its creation.

But the AFL will keep pumping money into it until it wins a flag, or the AFL goes bankrupt and sells its assets to the A-League and the NRL, or a giant comet strikes the Earth.

Wouldnt give Melbourne a chance i dont suppose?

That would be a dream come true & then if the Dees won I would celebrating and if we lost I would commiserate with “free” Tigers hospitality.

Can you explain again who "we" are as it seems somewhat variable. Could be Richmond, could be AFL House marketing department. There may even be some small chance it refers to the MFC.

Not having much luck in favoured MFC outcomes this weekend...

Go Weagles on the assumption we can give them top spot and aim for 2 or 3 ourselves by season's end !!

Not sure who to support in the Freo v North battle... tending towards Freo

Thats right. If we lost to the Tigers in a Grand Final, you would go and celebrate with them in your Tiger undies.

Best game i have seen him play in Melbourne by far

What I took from todays geme:
- Respect for Lever, he could be the dominant figure in the backline in years to come;

- Even workload, no one stared, everyone played their part

- Very cleaver recruiting, especially the rookie and late draft

- Dont want to dream too early but could Melbourne be on the cusp of something special?

-Nev Jetta is so underrated!

- Forward line so accurate I wonder how much Goodwin puts on importance of kicking straight. All players as accurate as Brad Green back in the day!

Love it!

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
