Apologies, 8v6. Still not  good enough. You're comfortable with that? Warm in AP exacerbateds  the situation.  Regardless, the bigger issue  is the lack of a bye afetr the sapping conditions and travel to Darwin. Jackson suddenly thinks it's an issue.

Especially at that stage of the season, just a hop step and jump into September.   We need the best conditioning we can, leading into the finals.

Listening to the age podcast this week Caro stated MFC would like to get out of selling games but because we are beholden to the AFL they won't allow us to move (or MFC are unwilling to for fear of repercussions from head office). Similar issue Saints have with being shunted to China next year.

The sooner we have our finances in order and can tell the AFL to get stuffed the better.

We owe the AFL currently, and we are re-payed home games for members ?

So I'm OK with it, as long as they work the fixture to help Re our loss of condition, from Darwin.

Selling games is our own problem.

We won’t be given assistance. The sooner we break these crap deals the better

Do you honestly believe he hasn’t raised the issue privately and strongly.

I get the impression he has tried that to no avail, now he’s on the way out he’s taken the last route possible and making his case through the media

No i don't. He has been a massive advocate for NT games and has scoffed at suggestions that it has in any way detrimental. In fact, in an interview, he st ated that Demon supporters should be more than satisfied with two replacement games for NT matches. Also,he was quizzed at consecutive  AGM's and was dismissive of the subject  Peter gas done great thibgs for this club. This ain't one of them.

However Jackson was keen to point out that the cessation of games in Darwin would not necessarily mean Melbourne would play more at the MCG, where the Demons are only contractually obliged to play nine home games a season. He said games moved from the NT could become home games at the newly renamed Marvel Stadium.

IMO this would be the reason why we continue to play in the NT. we need to negotiate the two games back at the MCG, reasons why we are unable to get them on the G would be Carlton and Essendon wanting games extra games there

Surely  other teams which gets stuck with the Darwin game want a following bye too and would support us in this?  Or are we now such a threat that they'd be overruled by other clubs. (if only)

Two interesting things in the article. First, the deal is between the NT and the AFL, not the MFC. If the AFL wants it to continue, then it probably continues.

Second, the comment that we are “contractually obliged” to play 9 home games at the G. I’ve never heard of this before. Is this a maximum or a minimum? If it’s a maximum, where did it come from and why doesn’t it apply to Richmond?

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
