Posters on here talk about Josh Kelly as though if North don’t get him he’s as good as coming to Melbourne. In reality we’d just be one of about ten suitors throwing cash at him. It’s a long shot.

I don't think we will be chasing Kelly...let someone else pay way overs for him.

We have a couple of our own we will need to secure in the next couple of seasons.

Gaff turning down a massive deal from North as another “big fish” says no to them is almost as good as us landing someone we wanted ?. Their war chest doesn’t seem to be worth as much as they hoped!

It was interesting to read one of Tim Gossage’s tweets. He said he had contact with a few WCE players and they were all blown away but pumped Gaff stayed. The players he spoke to thought he was leaving.

Has anyone seen Deryn, since the Prelim Final over in Perth ?

Parliament is starting to become concerned.

So if a club has to pay to the cap, what does North do with all the cash? Secret Santa with the current list? They have been putting aside dollars for years now, how do they spend it?

Front loading existing  contracts to Goldstein, Cunnington, Brown, Tarrant, Higgins,  Waite.

That's also probably part of the way they sell their mega offers to other players to their existing list.  Look here's half your pay for the next 4 years so we can afford this.

If they can't swing a Gaff replacement  this year they'll front load Polec to the max next year.

It only works for so long though.

shut it down

Seems a bit hasty. They still managed to finish 9th last year without Gaff.

You can put a small amount away each year if you don’t spend the full cap.

haha, not nmfc skuit..although...

i was referring to this annoying thread.

WCE will be hard to beat again next year. From the GF bring in Gaff, Naitanui, Sheppard and Tim Kelly....that's a serious side.

Yep, and the Norm Smith Medalist finished outside the top 10 in their B&F. Hoping to play them at the G next year for a change. Was the last time in 2014?

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
