"Contrary to reports, McCartney was not demoted from the Demons’ coaches’ box to the boundary line this year. It was simply a return to the role McCartney had been playing for the previous three years."

Well, there ya go

The comments in this thread, as well as the Goodwin thread, show how scarred some fans are.  It annoys me, but at the same time I slightly understand where they are coming from.

The last month shows how we need to be patient - a couple of bad losses and we had some supporters, who now look rather stupid, questioning everything as if the club was caving in.  Now look at us.  Just goes to show that we don't need to be negative about every decision made and be able to see the long term view, not just the short term.

I must admit the last few years I feel I'm 1mm from a complete meltdown over this club ?

That's what this Forum is all about. It's a lot more effective than paying for some professional psychologist to try and treat your MFCSS attacks when no one other than members on here have a clue about or know how to treat. :)

Huge wraps in the Hun today.  Scanned it over a coffee in the local cafe, and were talking up his development credentials.

We are becom8ng a media darling... I’m not used to it!

Even Caro was finding it hard to accept, but did concede, on her show the other night.

The reality is, we're just one loss away from the "typical Melbourne" of "fall from grace" headlines.

And it must be working well as we have given teams hidings since he went to bench. Have talked to him a few times when he has been up here in Qld and comes across as a terrific fella that has time of day to chat. No doubt he encourages and supports the players plus constructive feedback when needed. From all accounts he is a very valuable member of the coaching group and for one I am glad he is with the Dees.

I agree. Of course if we lose tomorrow I'm jumping from the Rialto.

Being a media darling is novel but I have seen it before under Northey and Daniher.

I want to be hated!

Yeah but some people have been saying that for the last 4 years - it’s the same small group in nearly every thread - same tactics - just they attack another poster.

I don’t think they will ever learn. Saty, is one of the most loyal passionate MFC supporters you would ever meet - he is 10 times a better supporter than me and may I add the “trolls” attacking him.

No one is a better supporter than anyone else.  We all contribute in our own ways, whether that be through attendance, membership, posting here or wearing your gear into work on a Monday win, lose or draw.  While I don't agree with some posters on here, that doesn't mean I would consider them any less of a supporter than me or anyone else.

Ok fair enough well said, but I’m not walking away from saying Saty is one of the most loyal, passionate Demons supporters you will ever meet. He and his lovely partner go to nearly ever game for as long as I can remember- he bleeds red & blue.

So he is 10 x a better supporter than I will ever be.

That's great.  Some would agree, others would call him a troll.  I fall in the latter.

And him 'bleeding red & blue' might make him a better supporter than you, but it doesn't make him better than the rest.

Yeah I don’t see it that way - I think all he ever does is try and share his love for the club.

Now, Saty and his partner have not always seen eye to eye with me either - but I think I was more at fault there. I’ve learnt more from meeting him than he knows.

But each to their own

Been very impressed with the way Goodwin has managed the people around him this year. Things have been tried and mistakes made, but that’s all part of the learning process for any coach of any years of experience. The Brendon decision was a great example. It’s how he has responded and the adjustments made that show we are on a winner with Simon.

Keep up the great work MFC, I’m loving what I’m seeing atm

Good call. We could have persisted like Worsfold did with the Neeld project, but had the sense to take decisive action quickly. Whether that credit goes to Goodwin or not, I'm not sure. I'll dig a little.

It was clear that he was abusing his position within the club to further his own media career.

I’m surprised it took so long for him to get replaced.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
