Jordan Lewis Out with Broken Hand

Featured Replies

I wish him a speedy recovery from his broken hand and accept this may be the reason for some of his poor execution and tackling on the weekend. However I cannot connect this with his lack of chase, inability to keep his feet or to maintain marshalling his younger team mates into some form of defensive structure when on the field on the weekend.

I hope he recovers quickly but will be curious to see how we perform without him slowing us down and what happens when he is ready to return.

That's fine.  If you think his performance has been poor this season then there's nothing wrong with that opinion.

I think most of us have been disappointed in the tasteless way a select few have potted the bloke in the face of an injury.  There's no need for that.

There was a million other reasons that would have caused our loss to Hawks before this morose subject of fifty odd (guess) poor posts...............

Well if Jonathan Brown agrees with you, you must be right.  I said he got the most p’s against Nth, not Brisbane.

Granted he doesn’t have much pace but he never has.  Go back and watch some of the replays of his delivery by foot.  I am a Hunt fan but he is a horrible kick.

How am I suppose to know what he says on the field and how he leads but since you’re the football genius I guess you can tell from your arm chair.

Lever didn’t come to us to play a half back role.

Well if he's playing a half back role your suppose to defend aren't you? keep your feet, follow your opponent not just jog back and expect someone else to pick up your man.

I will eat my words if he comes back after a spell in the magoo's and plays Disciplined team orientated football against top 8 credentialed teams.

Until then he's a liability.

I still don’t get it.  If he was injured, why wasn’t he benched, and a fit player used?  I do not question his endeavour, or even his bravery.  My issue is with the medical team and coaching staff having on the field if he was injured, or Lewis not letting on that he was injured.  I thought Goodwin wanted ‘fit’ players.  Could have shuffled the deck chairs, and maybe seen something different from what we saw.

it's called selfish.

Where did Lewis say he didn’t let on he was injured? I assumed he was jabbed at half-time allowing him to play out the game.

With respect to Goodwin wanting ‘fit players’ this is obviously in relation to going into a game, nothing to do with players being injured during a game.

Goodwin kept playing Lewis so he could break his hand some more... lol

Lewis would have been on thin ice keeping his spot in the side on form this week. Being a VC and experienced player it would have been talk of the town and Melbourne would be questioned relentlessly if he were dropped.

The Dees want to avoid all the media BS. With Lewis being injured it works out for both parties to avoid embarrassment. Goodwin would be thinking the injury to Lewis has come at a good time...

Sorry Jordy but you were on the chopping block!

He also avoided being on AFL 360, Bernie took his place.

Given that he was named in the bests for 2 out of the 4 rounds, is currently rated in the top 10 on most stats and is in the top handful for possessions, I wish we had a few more players playing as "poorly" as him.

Would've been a bit too painful to participate in the circlejerk that is AFL360 this week.

Avoided? He had an operation on Monday.

Not painful? Honestly? Try getting the site of the injury smacked with a wet football or using that hand in a tackle or marking contest and see if it’s not painful.

Yeah he definitely would have played through some pain. I've played a game with a fractured hand. When its cold and wet your hands are generally a bit more numb so it might have felt more minor. Hopefully he didn't do a lot more damage playing out the game.

Probably had something to do with the fact he had hand surgery the same day.

Not according to J Brown +/- Roosy.

Jordan Lewis is one of the bravest players that has played the game.  I wouldn't have played at all after a 1/10th of the hit he received from Gia? v the dogs a few years ago.  He can be proud of his career, and his 4 flags.

But Melbourne's decision to get him, though filling the simpleton's heart with glee, said more about how inward-looking and safe we still were.  Bevo's dogs didn't need an ageing leader at the 11th hour; nor did the TiGeRs.

I am celebrating Lewis out, because for the first time since late 2016, I can trust most of the 22 in terms of leg speed and keeping their feet.  And yes, I am sure we won't miss his leadership...whatever that was supposed to ever mean and solve.

The difference, though, is that the Bulldogs already had some excellent "ageing leaders" in Bob Murphy, Matthew Boyd and Dale Morris. Apart from our two imports (Lewis and Vince) we've had just Jones.  Similarly, perhaps they're not as aged, but the Tigers had real leaders in Cotchin, Rance and Reiwoldt.

Gee there are some nasty people on this site

Unbelievable

When he's keeping a player like Jayden Hunt out of the team I have a major problem with it.

I have read a few of your posts and you have a very poor understanding of football or you are simply trolling.

Hunt is the only player keeping Hunt out of the team. He was dropped.

We went an impressive 0-3 when Lewis didn't play last year.

Which rounds were those?
