MFC will not make the 8 in 2018 - Growing a backbone.

Big call a few on here maybe angry with this but we just are not good or most importantly HUNGRY enough for it.

When these players/so called leader grow a real and proper Backbone we may see some at long last change at the MFC. I’m tired of this club been constantly bullied by the likes of Hawthorn for decades and we never seem to do anything about it...??

All this talk of sacking Goodwin, is silly at this stage, how many more coaches can we go through?

Honestly our so called Leaders need to decide what to do to properly change this Culture. PJ is doing his off the field now the players must.

Until we change properly membership will only increase at snails pace because of the actions of these players on the field. Go Dees

You'll change your mind when we win next week. Richmond had an easy game, while we had a shocker we must breathe fire and hit a shocked Richmond right between the eyes.

I’ve read some knee-jerk stuff on here before but this takes the cake, mate.

Today was rubbish but there’s still 19 more rounds.

When the players put the ‘cue in the rack’ you know it’s troublesome. Problems aplenty. We’ll struggle to make 10th

Truth hurts ey? The proof is in the pudding. Something drastically has to change in 19 rounds and it’s hard to see.

2014 - Geelong lose to Sydney by 110 points, make the 8.

2015 - Fremantle lose to Port and Hawthorn by 60+ points, are minor premiers

2016 - Hawthorn lose to GWS by 75 points, make the 8.

2017 - Richmond lose to Adelaide and St Kilda by 80 and 67 points, are premiers.

Calm your farm.

Well, not so much truth hurts as knee-jerk hurts, if you're standint oo close to the person who knee-jerks.

Have no doubt that Max wants to make amends for last year. Same for Oliver, Petracca and Hoges. These blokes truly die for the cause.

The rest haven’t shown either a spine or ability. In some cases both.

Hunt and Stretch should have been in the side from the start . Both have skills and smarts and Harms , Melksham and others simply don’t.

Amazes me the coaches have missed this.

Also excited about Viney and TMac being back in about 4 months when we are in about 14th.

Sydney were 0-6 at the start of last season.

Calm down a little bit if that’s at all possible.

And to think the players almost had me conned when they said "they were hurting" after the Round 23 loss last year!

We have enough good players more than we think, However we have some DUMB ones playing at the moment and they need to be banished  to Magoos .

The references to Sydney, Geelong, Richmond are ridiculous. They at least had credibility before the quoted losses.

Sydney had played finals for years and years. Geelong too. Richmond played finals in 2013/2014/2015. When did MFC last play finals?

The reaction to this loss is as ferocious as I’ve seen since the Neeld days. I would think everyone is on notice as the scrutiny will be severe.

Reaction by whom, chook?

Certainly from supporters, but it definitely remains to be seen whether there will be any “ferocious reaction” by the coaching staff, the selectors or the players.  Will have to revisit the question on Anzac Day.

Hope the reaction by those who can make a difference (coaches and players) is thermonuclear but won’t hold my breath.

Was planning on going Anzac Eve but honestly so disheartened after Sunday that I am not so sure I will.

As others have said, this mob has lost my trust in a big way - yet again?

How many are you referring too?

There are a good 4 to 5 keep making same mistakes. However you work it out.

I will give you one though  if you were watching the game or games lately.

Can hardly hold a mark and mainly fumbles, kicks short most of the time and can't hit his target, looks to handball when in a panic and strays. However when in possession  oh no! not again mainly holding the ball. How many times must you think?  Loose man defence and not one on one thank  ..G..

Please don't ask me . ???????? Work it out for yourself.  I am sure l have support.

Supporters and Press. Not sure about coaches, remains to be seen but they are feeling the heat too. Goodwins comment about Hawks structure being superior to ours is damning. The selectors have a bit to explain as well - they seem to put fit runners ahead of players with some skills and footy smarts. Not sure all is lost but a 4 quarter effort is required immediately.

Richmond? What credibility? They'd lost 3 elimination finals in a row against teams they should have beaten (including a team that finished 9th), had a dreadful 2016 and were in off field turmoil at season's end. There was a lot of discussion heading into 2017 about how re-signing Hardwick was a disastrous decision. Sure, he turned it around and won a premiership, but let's not pretend Richmond had stacks of credibility heading into 2017.

Freo have even less credibility. 3 wins in 7 finals since Lyon took over. Lyon himself has only had a draw from 4 grand finals.

I'll give you the other two have more credibility. And it was a terrible, terrible result Sunday. But [censored] happens.

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
