Vince had an operation early in the week to restitch the webbing in his fingers which he tore on the weekend (makes me feel sick just thinking about it!), so probably explains his absence.

Jesse is moving well, as is Salem. Notable absentees are, Vince, Hunt and Trac.

Is there a training thread for this week anywhere?

Trac seemed to be fighting fit when he was at the Nike Melbourne On Air party about four hours after our loss Sunday.  At leat from what I saw.  Anyone know why he missed??

How can he be only driving a crappy old Ford Territory with the coin he’s on?

Think Tom McDonald needs to have a word to him.

Should be driving a Mustang......

I don't think he's all that far away from a trot in the magoos.

He was poor on the weekend with only 3 touches in a half. Didn't do much in the JLT. Ended last season poorly by his own admission.

Needs to regain his sparkling first half of 2017 form and we'll be the better for it.

Given our forwards' inability to lay tackles, I wouldn't be adverse to giving him a go as a pressure forward. Once he gets a feel for it, we can send him back where hopefully he shows his run and dash again.

2015  -  16 disposals  11 marks, 4 goals, 1 Brownlow vote,   Melbourne win

2016 -  20 disposals,   7 marks,  5 goals,   3 Brownlow votes, Melbourne win

2017 -  15 dispolsas , 9 marks,   6 goals,    3 Brownlow votes,  Melbourne win

Averages  -   17 disposals,  9 marks, 5 goals per game

I was worried about this game, but now Jesse is cleared to play we will win.

This is a stat that gives a warm glow... when was the last time we had a forward that kicked numerous goals against a particular opposition. I reckon maybe Brad Miller v the Saints early in his career for a couple of years...and maybe Neita prior to that.

Mind you...the game has changed...lower the eyes lads.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
