The topic of conversation, raised by the hosting CEO himself (an ex ANZ CEO also), was that if he could have his way he would list human workers on a version of the stock exchange for buying / selling / trading.  Just like a commodity.

I believe this has been tried before. Not exactly a stock exchange but similar ... more like an auction block.

A prominent nation fought a war over it and ever since, the practice has been frowned upon. (Even though it still persists in pockets around the globe.)

It was surprisingly easy. They have a huge resale market in the USA so got tickets through Ticketmaster resale a couple of hours before the game. Pretty cheap all things considered too.

Those are brilliant seats, can't wait to head over and catch a game one day. Never had an interest in going to the States until I got into the NFL about 8 or 9 years ago. Unfortunately I jumped on the Jets who have been putrid ever since I adopted them after their playoff win in Foxboro.

Agree. Many here should buy an internet capable radio and tune into BBC Radio 4, or ABC Radio National’s ‘Big Ideas’.

They might then immediately realise how basic/limited these SEN bozos really are.

Every. Single. One. Of. Them.

I tuned in to SEN today at 3.24pm and got 6 minutes of adverts....Riveting stuff. I have set the dial to listening to podcasts and audio books until the football season starts again

cricket football and tennis were the big sports items back in the radio halcyon days. you shouldn't compare it to radio nowadays.

btw i have little interest in professional tennis these days

Agree. Used to love it. Loved the diff types of players with my favorites being the serve volley players. Also liked players with a good touch. Too much power tennis these days

I don't understand why anyone listens to the radio anymore. Terrible music, non stop adverts and banal or far right hosts. Podcasts and iPod for music for me.

Hang in there Dr.

I adopted the Seahawks when I Iived thereabouts in 2006.

Watching them win a Super Bowl (unfortunately on TV as I was back in Oz by then) was a small sliver of what I would feel if the Dees scooped a flag.

My wife supports the Pats for no other reason than she recognised Brady when I started watching ("he's married to Giselle"). She loves her football as well though not as fanatical as me. She's seen 2 Superbowl wins with probably a 3rd next week. She's also seen 3 Cats flags after adopting them shortly after coming to Australia in 2001. I'm still hoping the worm will turn and I'll see some success..... someday

Gerard Whateley is the best thing that has happened to SEN, it's just a shame that the rest of the station is trash.

I am still in shock that Lyon is their breakfast representative.

Seriously he is the antithesis of breakfast radio in every way.

Whateley’s audience could double with the correct lead in program

I suspect that the only reason the breakfast crew and KB are still there is because the have  contracts that would be too expensive to buy out.

I think Craig Hutchison's Crocmedia produces Footy Classified for Channel 9. If that's correct, it would seem Hutchison likes Garry Lyon given Lyon was on that show for many years.

Hasn't Lyon quit Footy classified (or perhaps was shown the door) ?

I listen to SEN podcasts from time to time without ads, so much more enjoyable than tuning the dial. If you had the mobile data or work connection, you could easily load up all SEN shows and listen to them within the one day, you'd just be listening with a 2 or 3 hour delay, or however long they take to upload each show.

I must be the odd man out. I like Gary & Tim, Gerard, Maher, and KB and Doc. I also like Hutchy, Pickers and Doc on Saturday morning.

TT I think it is time to review your life while I agree with you on a couple of those the rest are IMO the pits particularly that Saturday show. I have not listened to it since the morning "pickers" was lecturing someone on morals. That was it for me.

So Crocosheeit media to be pursued for monies owed to The Ox and Finey! Hope the boys get every last penny owed to them!

The picture of Hutchison in todays HUN on page 17 makes me want to vomit profusely.

His wage is $883,752 a year!!

boycott that organization

I don’t understand why everyone is taking the station’s financial decision so personally.

Hitchison has made huge decisions to enable his company to ultimately make a profit, and the sacked ,underperforming ‘talent’ were not part of his vision, no more, no less.

Have you heard his own programme on Saturday mornings?

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
