Saying we are playing lions at gabba in round 2, so you would assume we get a home game round 1

Surprising if we play crows r1 and its in Melbourne, would've thought they'd want that match in Adelaide. Although if we're playing Gabba R2 would be a bit rough to start the year with back to back interstate games.

Would be unprecedented if a VIC club starts the season with two interstate trips. Has never happened.

So lock it in that we'll be playing West Coast round 1 in Perth, then Brisbane round 2 at the GABBA.

Scary enough as you could be right. But I think we will have a game in vic in between founds 3 and 4.

So round 4 would be cats at simmonds.

We usually get a lot of home games early then do a tour of Aus in the second half of the year. Wouldn't mind if it's reversed next year.

Saints will be happy to play at casey against us. Practically could run their family day there that night. Casey and that region is St Kilda heartland and will never be Melbournes anything

Collingwood and the Dees are set to be denied a Friday Night Round 1 Blockbuster game.

Thread for actual news not wishes. :P

I still can't get used to seeing the words 'Melbourne' and 'Blockbuster' in the same sentence!

things on the up

Damn, I would have liked the 'Pies first-up. Hope it's not the Crows. Then it'll become all about Lever which puts unnecessary and unfair pressure on the kid.

Also the Crows going flat chat to redeeming themselves to their fans.

Friday, March 23

Essendon v Adelaide, Etihad Stadium, 7.50pm

Saturday, March 24

St Kilda v Brisbane Lions, Etihad Stadium, 3.35pm

Port Adelaide v Fremantle, Adelaide Oval, 4.35pm

Melbourne v Geelong, MCG, 3.20pm

West Coast v Sydney, Perth Stadium, 7.10pm

Tough way to start the year but hey it’s not in Geelong.

No issues with that. Home game on our home ground. A great way to start the season and test ourselves.

Will be a huge turnout. Very happy.

Massive first game.  60 plus at the G.

Demons to smack the Cats, Hogsn to kick 7.

3 Brownlow votes - C Oliver

Thats a great test first up.

We would have beaten them earlier in the year if we didn't lose Gawn during the game.  They ran over us in the end, but we had them covered until 3 quarter time.

Lever vs Ablett?  ;)

Hope we kick better this time around than last time.

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
