Doubt he'd come - he'd be amazing, but a media career beckons, methinks....

Heading to the Gold Coast if he doesn't take up his media gig.

Got the "royal calling" did he?

Let's do it ourselves otherwise it will be an illusion.

Has to come from within

I dont think he's the answer. But he would help make us better for sure.

Would be great but I think outside of a media gig he would do either of:

1. Go to Gold coast as a coach in waiting

2. Stay at the hawks where his heart is

Speaking of hawk assistant coaches i wonder whether the club have ever approached neita or yze about coming back? Particularly yze, as he's learned from the best in clarko, his heart is red and blue and he was an elite kick which is something our midfield is presently deficient on

Not a bad thought DD82. having a club legend like Neita involved could only improve our coaching standards.

What an odd post. Let's just get the best people for the job in all positions at the club, on and off field. Doesn't matter one iota whether they come from 'within' or not.

Not a single member of our senior coaching staff has come from 'within'. Why would this make any success we have "an illusion"?

Think our coaches are pretty  settled and of good quality. The improvement needs to come from the players not letting 5-10 mins slip a game which bones us.

I would even put him on contract for a season, if that's what it took.

Its a yes from me.

Well I guess we shouldn't have PJ then, & Roosy was a mistake as well.

We have been fooling ourselves looking outside the Mfc box all this time, when we had all the skills within to fark it ourselves.

Why?

For skills that we needed in areas where we were lacking, such as a good CEO, or a good coach, yes, outsiders have come in and done well. Garlett, Vince, etc.

But for the burning issue of mental strength, you can't buy it or recruit it.

Has to come from within, meaning, the list we have has to solve it for themselves.

It has alway irked me that they went over and have been hanging around all those yellow and brown scum.

100% agree with you here.

But wouldnt having hodge on the coaching staff help this to happen?

Very very recent  rumour says we've just reappointed our 2017 coaches for 2018

Reckon there's a cuppla toige's with photos and we've got no $s

Lets just let Lewey transition into coaching first.

Although based on Friday night  I'd bring Ooze back as the goal kicking coach !

No, he's indicated he's not interested in coaching and looking for a media career.

...we need people 100% committed to coaching who are good at what they do. I think we already have them.

I'll give you Goody at this early stage

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
