Agree with Danelska. No one can assume the adverse effect that negative, personal comments have on anybody else, and as such should respect the differences by exercising caution. The biggest issue for mine with online forums in general (and Demonland is by comparison excellent, well done mods) is the protection of anonymity. We all know that 'trolls' and cyber-bullies are a blight, but they only exist through anonymity. No accountability means no responsibility. As a matter of interest, how many of you responding to this topic (or any) would modify the nature of your posting if you were identified by your real names?

A couple of points, you can argue about them all you like

I am given information, I am trusted not to share it on forums, I usually know who is playing early

Delusional is such an easy word to use rather than actually debate a posters opinion or comments, used a lot on here, which says a lot about the posters

We have issues that are done to death on here, have posters got nothing new to say,  seems that way

If you let the words of an anonymous keyboard warrior get to you, perhaps this is not for you

Me, I show my lovely lady and we have a good laugh at them

For the record, my identity is known to some other posters on here.

Am I missing something? I really haven't been on the end of many if any personal attacks on Demonland. Either that or I've been too thick to realise, which is quite possible.  Perhaps though, it's also about building some resilience and an acceptance that some will not like your views and, by extension (rightly or wrongly), you. Accept that and it's all beer and skittles.

And, of course, those few individuals who have disagreed with me have no doubt either been psychotic, wrong or both.

I was wrong, however, about Lucas Cook. He won't make it.

I agree.  People disagree, but as far as overly personal attacks go it's hard to remember many if any.

Justify what ?

I answered a question.  This is the question: "As a matter of interest, how many of you responding to this topic (or any) would modify the nature of your posting if you were identified by your real names?"

But, to answer your question, no, I don't.

But thanks for being interested.

Some friday musings over a coffee or 4...

We bang on about mental health on here, yet numerous posters prefer to attack the man vs the content. Now I'm not coming from a holier than thou perspective, I am coming from a compassionate perspective and we've no idea really how someone feels when their attacked - even if their response would suggest they're cool with it.

Personally, I get quite upset (angry AND sad) when I see some posters critiquing others on here rather than the content. Would love a 3 strikes and you're banned for a bit rule.

I think you've entirely missed a very important point here.  Many keyboard warriors have very poorly developed skills in debate and critical thinking.  When confronted with an argument they don't like, they lack the skills to construct a well-thought-out counter that will stand up to scrutiny, so they only option they have left is to attack the source of the argument rather than the argument itself.  It's another form of the common far-left tactic of crying  "that's racist/sexist/homophobic!" whenever someone challenges what they consider to be self-evident truths.

Not helping yourself here Saty.

The only thing that frustrates me is when people say things that can't be disproved and offer nothing to the narrative.

Statements like 'I know something but can't say', or after something is in the public domain stating 'I knew this in advance'.

I don't really get the point of those posts but I suspect those of you who make those posts already knew I was going to say that - because you have magic powers that you can't talk about.

No desire to help myself bing, this place is a publuc footy forum, no relevance whatsoever, it is a humorous diversion

Those that think otherwise are a concern

personally i'm satisfied with 90 odd comments on here - as presumably people actually do give a damn about it enough one way or the other to comment on it...

hope we have a win tonight in Darwin - and am resigned to a loss based on injuries...

RTG - I suspect you're missing the point.. if that's what you perceive me to be on about.  I'm all about having robust discussion which invariably there is a disagreement on opinions - as its a forum its not about that at all - its about criticising the individual, rather than the content of their thoughts...

No, I get it. I'm just saying that I've been relatively fortunate but it also about the capacity to move on when criticized. I'm not advocating personal criticism, just suggesting it's not overly present imo on Demonland. And as BBO's favourite singer Taylor Swift espoused, you've gotta 'shake it off...shake it off'.

How is using facts attacking another poster?  That's exactly what he used to do.

In retrospect my post might have looked narky. I was more just having a dig at stuie.

There are times when I have been a little passionate in my expression in the past.  I've grown up a bit.

These days it's those that try to censor genuine discussion that elicit a direct response.

You know.. the self appointed guardians of Demonland and the MFC.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
